How? His durability isn't anything really special, and Surfer attacks well beyond lightspeed. If nothing else, Surfer speed blitzes him to death.

Both basically have the same powers. I don't remember Firestorm anything that was really beyond Surfer. He's probably the most powerful sub-skyfather matter manipulator in Marvel. He's also much more durable. Blast wise, Surfer blows up planets...

SS manipulation can rebuild cities by raising his hand.

He manipulates a global level.

Firestorm doesn't

and that's just manipulation feats.

SS is faster ,Stronger, more versatile etc

Surfer also appeared 12 years before firestorm. I'm sure Firestorm has Silver Surfer potential, but i personally haven't seen it. Going by what i've seen, i'd say Surfer has better control over his powers and more experience.
