Where would comic books be without Superman? is a better question..

OB1-adobe
Superman and Batman mean to DC like what Spider-man and the X-men mean to Marvel.

Wow OB1-adobe! Well after S & B i like Aquaman and Flash#1, the rest sucks. Is Wonder Woman invulnerable?

Bushwacker
Where would DC, or any other comic company for that matter, be if Superman and Batman had NEVER existed?

Comics probably wouldn't be as well known and popular without Supes/Bats though....

speculating on possible past time lines, the most annoying of all possible comments...

Namor would reign supreme?

The four biggest superheroes on 1940 were Superman, Batman, Namor and Human Torch (I).

Would they be more popular if Batman and Superman hadn't existed?

NoFate007
doubt it

Swanky-Tuna
Probably where it is now but with different main heroes.

DarkCrawler
Current DC characters that would have still existed even without Superman/Batman...

Captain Marvel (Probably would be on Superman's place currently?)
Green Latern
Plastic Man
Green Latern
Atom
Dr. Mid-Nite (Batman's place?)
Johnny Thunder

These two great characters love each other and for a reason, they are like brothers. Bruce(batman) is his father image as well as Kal.

That did not make sense...

Don't panic, I meant friends smile We are competitive if our father is great.

WrathfulDwarf
In a scenerio were there is NO Superman or Batman in the DC universe. Most likely the Justice League would be under the leadership of Wonder Woman. Follow by the Flash, GL, Aquaman, and Hawkman.

Definitely unlikely.

Captain Marvel comes from Superman. If Superman wouldn't of existed, then neither would Shazzam.

To say "DC without Batman and Superman", is to add "along with Capt. Marvel" too.

You're right - Supes did come first.

But DC did add some of Cap's elements to Supes after they had bought him.

For example - before DC bought Cap, Supes only 'jumped' really really really far....

It may have seemed that he was flying, but they didn't make it official until they had accquired Cap - who was already known to fly.

Without superman no one might have come up with the idea of making superhero comics, and during the war and the downtime of comics in the 40s, 50s etc would maybe have destroyed the comics forever. It was after all the superheros that saved the comic industry.

Draco69
I wouldn't mind him disappearing for a couple of years. Focus on other characters for once. And then during a big threat we have his triumphant return.

"Where would DC be without Superman and Batman?"

Bankrupt.

NoFate007
Us with Superman and Batman: "Where would DC be without Superman and Batman?"

Us without Superman and Batman: "DC???"

FistOfThe North
DC without Superman and Batman would be like a porn flick without sex.

Knightfall93
I reckon Supes is a bit wussy but Batman is way hard and those 2 are what made comics great!

zeel
Dc poured the pressure on faucet city comics there at the end. Captian marvel was outselling superman comics for a while there. Superman came first, then captian marvel.. Then dc copied alot of captian marvels abilities then gave them to superman (man superman fans hate hearing that P) after this they shelved captian marvel.

ragesRemorse
i guess it would depend on what other characters would have been created had Superman and Batman never been. Also, no one knows what other characters readers would have taken a liking to had there been no Superman or BAtman. Im sure we would still have comic books without them. To what extent is unknown, though.
