I dont think that the change of digits in what year you are living in may motivate a person to change something he/she deems to be regulated.

Why should people have to wait for the New Year to regulate themselves if it can be done now ?

I dont bother making them either.

I dont bother making them either. Because there is such a thing as a long-term goals and short-term goals. People usually make a new years resolution that is a long-term goal, as in losing weight, or purchasing something expensive.

People make promises all year long with no intent on keeping them. You might as well start the year off making one to yourself.

Well you really didn't give it up then did you? You'll keep drinking it. If you can't control your urges regarding making pointless comments and taking threads off topic there is no way you'll be able to kick something as addictive as caffiene.

Cafeine is not bad as such, too much is bad, but not in moderation. Cafeine in small amounts is actually good for you (anti-oxydants, mood-lifter, anti-cancer, etc.). So don't give it up.

new years resolutions are bullshit.
if something in your life needs correcting, and you
are realistic and dedicated to the idea, then you would
do it NOW and not wait for new years.

think about all the people you know who resolve to
start getting in shape, or quit smoking, or do anything to
improve themselves....tomorrow...or next week.
the very act of making a committment but procrastinating
over it is just proof that its not enough of a priority and thus
you will fail. failure, self disappointment, depression over your
apparent shortcoming....is that any way to start a new year?
screw that erm

thats a given. but the point of that is to convince others
to not make them as well. improve yourself now, or set
yourself up for failure. those are the only two realistic choices.
new years resolution=failure

Now, everyone who knows me knows I am all for failure, but New Years Resolutions...come on those are just gay....and not in a good gay way like Cap or Eis.

I don't mean to point fingers but from what I've read, overweight people need to lose weight cause there a great candidate for "Spontaneous Combustions"..............You don't want to be a firework do ya? laughing out loud

debbiejo
I've been seriously thinking of changing my name to that.......yes...

Got to admit...No one want to combust into smoke and flames though....might make for a greeeeeeeeaaaaaat New years resolution!

Imperial_Samura
So the global obesity problem might soon be resolved by mass explosions of over weight people? Sounds messy, although great social changes rarely come without some pain.

Maybe my new year resolution will be to evolve to a higher plain of being (something like a glowing orb that hums.) That, or buy a fire extinguisher in case the over weight person who lives on the floor above my flat explodes and sets fire to the building.

Shrooms eh? I actually decided to stay away from friendly fungus for a while.

Always kind of scared that picking mushrooms might harm a colony of smurfs, leaving them without homes, though I don't want to meet the kind that would live in shrooms...

That, and ever since reading Donna Tartt's A Secret History, I can't help but wonder what would happen if someone was trying to kill me with mushrooms (oh, and I don't take drugs, better to take the easier path to evolution by using genetic modification and the like.)

I mean does anybody, in the world, actually keep the blighters? And what is so special about a New Year's one, I mean, if a person couldn't make one and keep it at any other point in the year, why will New Year's be different?
