I insert a dvd on the computer and it doesnt play. So i go in and try and play the files individualy. The only one i can get playing is the copyright warning. I try playing in my media players and they say the file is missing. I try playing in my dvd plyers and they say theres an error. can someone help me please?

Do you have a DVD codec installed?

Koala MeatPie
Is it a Copied / Burnt DVD?

That could explain for a Normal DVD player, it desn't recognize the File Type.

Another Explaination is that you are Trying to play An Zone II DVD on a Zone I player or vice versa.

Alos if you havn't installed your DVD drive yet, place the DVD to install it inside and run the set up.

Had the exact problem, download the K-Lite Codec Pack..

ive had this problem with mine it doesnt reconise the dics or no dvd decoder installed ... but my pc is about buggered

Koala MeatPie
hum, your in the right region... is the DVD scratched? was it exposed to high / low tempuratures?

Otherwise your DVD is busted and hopefully you still have the receit.

Even in the "no exchange refund whatsever" places, if you get them to play it and it doesn't work, they will understand.

The Ones
no, it plays in the normal dvd players, just not in the pc, it cant be busted

Hit_and_Miss
try getting the CCCP codec pack... Its much better then k-lite pack

How many dvd player progs do you have???
I some times find I watch different dvds on diff progs as some don't like each other...

or try playing it on this.. This is my last solution to watching a file, Its a bit of a bodge...
Not sure if it will work
http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32/MPlayer-mingw32-1.0pre7.zip
Unzip the file then DRAG the requested file onto the file Mplayer.exe, Don't try opening up Mplayer directly Nothing will happen..... If it works Open up the read me to find what the controls are...

i had the same problem. couldnt figure out what was wrong with the thing. i got a RAM upgrade a few weeks back and somehow that solved the problem.

not saying its a solution, just thats how mine started working again.

The Ones
I got the solution. I had to open up my dvd player first then click play. not go into it and try and open the files. Thanks anyway guys.
