We All Fall in Love, Sometimes/Curtains

listen to it, love it, get emotional over it.

Imperial_Samura
Aroused? I didn't know sad songs could be arousing... Or maybe I did. Still, sad songs are great, just because you are happy doesn't mean you can't appreciate wonderful sad or melancholy music.

In fact sometimes the emotional contrast can actually be good.

Anyone else see some problem with this statement?

no

Well not a real problem, just that either decision might lead to a sudden death which is not neccessarily a good thing.

Don't be scared, just look at a happy pic to neutralize the affects while listening to it.

This could be a good general discussion. We could talk about the reasons people enjoy listening to depressive songs.

Dude...am I Mel Gibson or something?

good idea. There are multiple reasons I guess. I enjoy listening to them too. It just puts one in an interesting melancholic not necessarily sad mood.

Syren
yes I like listening to some of the older, melancholy songs. For reminiscent reasons I guess... thinking back to certain times when I've been sad and counting my blessings etc.

Alpha Centauri
Good Charlotte? Sad...true.

uhm...maybe it makes us feel better in a strange way....like hey atleast im doign better than that person stick out tongue

sad songs are usually quite quiet too....so if we just want to listen to sonething that isnt blaring at us...its ok?

i duno...i tend to have a mix of music on a playlist....

ElectricBugaloo
Listen to some Elliott Smith. He's better than anyone else on that list, even though I love the shins and van morrison.

Saw that coming from a mile away.

I think the reason people like sad songs is because it lets them experience strong emotions of sadness, without actually being sad or depressed. Same reason people like horror movies. They can get scared shitless but at the same time have the reassurance that what they are seeing isnt real
