Green Day is overrated for sure, but they are great live performers and great musicians. Rarely can a band take such simple music and make it good.

It's different in relation to what else they've done, not really in general though.

It's their most famous song besides Basket Case, arguably.

If you think about it

Personally I love the video for Wake Me Up When September Ends, war and all. Mostly because Jamie Bell is in it.

I dont mind Green Day getting political, I think they are sincere about it, and not just using it as a ploy. But there are plenty of better political bands out there.

If you think about it

Nothing clever or overly political about those lyrics. Then again, I listen to actual political bands who actively take a part in politics.
