KMC's (and your) Top Ten Albums

Text-only Version: Click HERE to see this thread with all of the graphics, features, and links.

Victor Von Doom
Post your ten favourite albums.

After around 20-30 lists, I will combine them and work out 'KMC's top ten albums'. The positions you put the albums in is important, because the higher an album is, the better it will be likely to do in the overall list.

I will post mine shortly.

Proceed.

(No joint positions, it must be 1 to 10)

Alpha Centauri
1. Lateralus by Tool.
2. Mr. Bungle by Mr. Bungle.
3. Kid A by Radiohead.
4. Delirivm Cordia by Fantomas.
5. Angel Dust by Faith No More.
6. Disintegration by The Cure.
7. Grace by Jeff Buckley.
8. Mit Gas by Tomahawk.
9. Jupiter by Cave In.
10. Purple Rain by Prince.

For a second there I thought I was reading the same lists....

Alpha Centauri
List, Doom? What's yours?

-AC

D00m
I'm thinking of one right now. It's tough because there's so many to choose from. I'll have mine as soon as I come up with the ten.

Alpha Centauri
Good man, just trying to prevent this thread from flopping. This forum has people like that, you know how it is.

D00m
It was hard enough to just pick 10, so I'm skipping putting them in a particular order. But here they are:

The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Common Sense - Resurrection
Radiohead - The Bends
Radiohead - Amnesiac
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Organized Konfusion - Stress: The Extinction Agenda
The Beatles - Revolver
Park-Like Setting - Scool Day 2 Garbage Day 4
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Marley and the Wailers - Burnin'

Nothing special, but I love these albums. I'm sure it'll change, but that's it for now.

Good stuff, keep the lists coming.

For the record, you don't have to immediately state that it's off the top of your head or that it's "current". No one is gonna hold you to it. As long as it's your current top 10 all time albums (regardless of how current they'll remain), then it's good.

Yes, that's preferred. I'm saying that you don't HAVE to say "It's off the top" or "It's current". As long as it's honest and reflective of your all time top 10 right now, it's good.

lol wow

Anyway, my top 10. Damn, there're more than ten i love equally, this is hard. I'm gonna post what comes to mind as my current top 10 as of now now in no particular order. I listen to all types of music from any and everywhere if it's good except like rock & country, Not saying i wont listen too it cause it's not good but it's just not what im into. Hell i've even recently developed a strong affinity for instrumental smooth jazz and classical music mostly for some reason. But I mostly listen to Hip-Hop mainly my 90's s***.

But my list is as follows:

1. Liquid Swords (GZA's first album), 2. 4,5,6(Kool G. Rap's 1st album, 3. Roots of Evil (Kool G. Raps 2nd album) 4. Canibus (1st album), 5. Dare iz a Dark side (Redman's second album) 6. Muddy Waters (Redman's 3rd album) Um.. 7. Ready to Die, Makaveli, 8. Me Against the world (Probably my best album and best song on the album of the same title.) 9. Tical (Method Man's 1st album) and last but definitely not least, 10. Only built for Cuban Links (Raekwon's 1st album)

Me Against the World will probably be put as your number one then. This is why order is kind of crucial because the higher you place them the higher chance they have. Also, there's no joint numbers, so you're gonna have to pick either Ready to Die or The Don Killuminati (assuming that's what you mean when you say Makaveli).

Yea, I realized that I should've put "Me Against the World" on the top of the list, I just didn't. Maybe because I was going in no particular order cause I love all those albums like equally, and i came upon Pac's s*** too late, and became unaware but at least I mentioned the album as being number 1. But can "Top ten" also mean listing the 10 best that you favor kinda equally, in no particular order?

And the Ready to Die and Makaveli was a mix up. I'd pick Ready to Die over the Don Killuminati. I caught it after I posted it and missed it after i thought I edited carefully. Oh well. But now everyone knows..

Alright. Then I'm gonna redo my list to make it the top 10 best in order then as ask. I thought it didn't have to go in order.

It'll be hard to cause I never thought any album as being the best overall one. Me Against the World" is the album I tend to listen to alot but does that qualify? maybe. I love it just like I love mad other albums too. But even though i've never done this I can conjure up a list if I thought about it well enough. It has to come to me, like ill just jot them down on paper until I have the 10 best I guess.

There's just way to many ill albums for me to do it just flat out on the spot, but I will have my list ready by the end of the day, no doubt.

Oh shut up stick out tongue I've been meaning to post it up but kept getting distracted.

Alpha Centauri
I think I already know what album is going to win.

Most voted for artist is in the bag for Radiohead though, I'd say.

Lana
I'd say so....not too surprised by that, though.

Bierbommetje
1: Master of Puppets (Metallica)
2: Reise, Reise (Rammstein)
3: Rust in Peace (Megadeth)
4: Songs for the Deaf (Queens of the Stone Age)
5: Parklife (Blur)
6: Rage Against the Machine (Rage Against the Machine)
7: Appetite for Destruction (Guns 'n Roses)
8: Reign in Blood (Slayer)
9: Mesmerize (System of a Down)
10: Sehnsucht (Rammstein)

2 entries for Rammstein cause Im currently obsessed with them (and they rule).

Order is kinda random (except maybe the first), but its all so close, it doesnt really matter.

Tptmanno1
Yea, I just haven't listened to Kid A enough for it to be there.

Change it if you want, I'm still waiting on a few more lists.

Do it by editing the original post if you can though, so I don't count it twice.

Lana
15 minute edit limit, I can't.

I'll just leave it as it is because otherwise you'll never get a final list from me.

I would like my list to be edited. My choice of 'What's Going On' by Marvin Gaye at #7 was obviously an attempt to incorporate a universal classic into my top ten albums. However, upon recent review of said album, I have decided it is actually a little dull. Therefore, if you deem myself worthy of such special attention, I would rejoice if you could substitute it for Fugees' 'The Score', which is an album I still frequently listen to.

Thank you.

Alpha Centauri
Good choice, Krunk'd.

Ya Krunk'd Floo
Ya.

I noticed Mr. Bungle popping up in both your and VD's list, so I did a bit of research on the ol' man, and decided he may be to my liking...So, after a little bit of mouse-clicking, I have managed to purchase it from iTunes.

I shall voice my opinion in due course...

Alpha Centauri
It's a band, not a man, haha. Unless you mean Mike Patton...

When I first heard Mr. Bungle I more or less tore up the mental book on what I thought what music could be, threw it away and decided "Not very useful to me now."

Not a band for everyone, or most people, for sure.

Yeah, didn't read that....I jsut noticed it's in most Top Tens and even ijn good positions. It's a good Album too, so that's good.

thinking aboot it I have a feeling that the Second place might be a Radiohead Album too.

Second place might be Lateralus though.

It's certainly going to be very high up there, I believe.

My money is on OK Computer.

Lateralus will be Top 3 though I believe..

Funny, how my Top Ten has changed in the past few days again. But let'S stay with that list for now.

Actually, I thought Mr. Bungle was a one-man band type of deal with studio musicians. I still haven't had the chance to give it my full attention yet, though...

Kid A is a great album, but The Bends is much closer to my heart. When I was 15/16 years old, my friends and I would meet up at my house, put on long over-coats (don't know why...), put gel in our hair, put someone on camcorder-duty and then belt out tunes like 'The Bends' - "Where do we go from here? The words are coming out all weird, where are you now-ow?..." - and 'Just'. We did the same with Blur's 'Parklife', which is still great, but I don't listen to it any more...

Good times. Strange times. Times.

Well from what I gathered it is one of the multiple projects by this Mike Patton fellow....like Faith No More, Tomahawk and Fantomas....am I right?

Well actually the first 4 Radioheqad Albums all deserve a Top ten Position in my opinion (I haven't heard the other two yet...).

Oh by the way, time is an illusion....lunchtime doubly so.

Fire
1. Metallica - Black Album
2. Bryan Adams - Best Of
3. U2 - Greatest Hits '80-'90
4. U2 - How to dismantle an atomic bomb
5. Metallica - Ride the lightning
6. Metallica - Gargage Inc.
7. Bon Jovi - Crash

that's all I can think of, not an album freak, more individual songs

Victor Von Doom
Ok, this is how it worked out. I haven't counted Fire's list, because there aren't ten albums there. It would have affected the top ten, too.

Positions 6 and 7 are equal in every way, so I have tied them. There was no method of preferring one over the other.

I might update if people keep posting lists, but that's as of now.

Df02
i know that at best 1 of my choices may appear on the final list... but here we go.

1)Neil Perry - Lineage Situation

4)Saetia - A Retrospective
5)Fugazi - In on the Kill Taker
6)Meshuggah - Chaosphere
7)Godspeed You! Black Emperor! - Lift your skinny fists like antennas to the sky

Tool - Lateralus
White Stripes - De Stijl
Radiohead - Kid A
Pink Floyd - Relics
The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
Autolux - Future Perfect
Fantomas - Suspended Animation
Mars Volta - Scabdates

Ya Krunk'd Floo
I've begun listening to that 'Mr. Bungle' CD...

'Interesting', 'weird', 'funny', and 'crazy' are the current words I'd use to describe it.

Fire
1. Metallica - Black Album
2. Bryan Adams - Best Of Me
3. U2 - Greatest Hits '80-'90
4. U2 - How to dismantle an atomic bomb
5. Metallica - Ride the lightning
6. Metallica - Gargage Inc.
7. Bon Jovi - Crush
8. Bon Jovi - One Wild Night Live
9. Bryan Adams - 18 till I die
10. Bryan Adams - Room Service

I finished it, not that it really matters since none of those albums will make that list stick out tongue

I don't even own the last 3 LOL

Nevermind
1. Lovesexy- Prince
2. Ben Folds Five- Ben Folds Five
3. Joe's Garage- Frank Zappa
4. Here, My Dear- Marvin Gaye
5. Bad- Michael Jackson
6. Discovery- Daft Punk
7. Hello Nasty- Beastie Boys
8. In Utero- Nirvana
9. Boy's Don't Cry- The Cure
10. Daydream Nation- Sonic Youth

I only really have a couple of albums I'd deem to be my favourite. However, I thought this would be fun to do and I thought I give it a shot. This album list probably fluctuates quite a bit.
