An interesting idea spawned by the "is masturbating a sin?" thread. Nearly everything we do can be interpreted as a sin. According to some Abrahamese Christian precepts, you need to repent for a sin in order for God to forgive it. I think we can all safely say we do a whole lot more sinning than repenting. Is it truly possible to fully live up to the expectations of sin and repetance? Is humanity as large and as individuals so sinful we can't get in to heaven? Are there more people in hell than heaven or vice versa? What do you believe to be the criteria to going to heaven or hell?

Discuss.

This reminds me of the South Park movie. Heaven - Population 1,003 (or something). Hell - Population more then can be counted.

Sin, repent, sin, repent, sin, repent......say the magic words....then you get to go.......But what about the people who don't know the magic words?

Shakyamunison
There is a lot of people here in heaven, just not a lot of Christians. They are all outside waiting for some rapture thing.

Sins don't exist anymore, our God has grown with the world.
He has become a loving god instead of an angry god as many people still believe due to their extreme dependancy to an age old book wich parts of were even banned because of them not liking the portrayal of God and his angels.. (kinda dumb, isn't it?)

Anyway.. God just lets humanity learn and grow from their mistakes these days and isn't a police force anymore although bored people still want it so bad for reasons unapperant.

To mortals it is, something they will never see as mortals=weak.

That is an error in thought. God always forgives you. However repentance shows God your sorry. for example, let's say you steal a candy from the store. You eat it and you get caught. There is no way the shop keeper can get that chocolate back, so he goes off disgruntled and saddend (perhaps angry) that you stole from him. However, he forgives you and continue his everyday life, yet with the continuing saddness that you still stole. Like he remembers it. Performing repentance is like paying that debt. By going to the store and perhaps working for that candy bar, or paying the clerk, you no longer have that debt. And in a sence, all is restored and it's like the event never happened.

Depends on the people to whom that is adressed to...

No, but then again we don't know for sure who is in heaven...except for the great trio....

Do good, avoid evil. And love God and your neighbor
