Sandman - a villain who isn't interesting or cool enough to frontline a film

possible Harry goblin - nothing new or exciting

Topher - 2 major listings so far are Venom (which everyone is getting mad at), and Electro (and we don't know if Raimi will mess up the costume)

More focus on Peter and less on Spider-Man = more whining and waste of storytime

An ugly Gwen Stacy, matched up with a Mary Jane that gets progressively uglier as time goes by. Dunst was ok in the first one but bad in the second and the only pic of #3 we have of her is that hideous one where she has the sunglasses on and looks like shit. Now we're gonna get an even uglier girl for Gwen Stacy? Which means that that's even LESS time for the villains, and more time for whining about "do I like ugly girl #1 or ugly girl #2?"

This better not be true, or we've got a T3/Matrix Revolutions going on.

Raimi hasn't known what he's been doing since he started. I mean, he made Doc Ock a schitzo, Peter a wuss, and for some odd reason has to have a wet t-shirt scene in every movie with Kirsten Dunst. The second movie SUCKED compared to the first one, so I wouldn't be suprised if there was no Venom, and there was Gwen Stacy.

Hulk sequel!?! I had to see it to believe it, anyway I always wondered who would play Gwen maybe dunst should play Gwen since she is blonde and this Bryce Howard should play Mary Jane since she is ginger.

Sandman is an awsome character who does not get noticed enough because he is the ultimate suervillan (better than venom)

and Gwen Sacy was he best thig to happen to comics scince Doomsday

kirsten dunst is not beautiful and sandman is not the ultimate supervillain, in most peoples opinion. Its Venom, he's naturally matched up to Spiderman since he's cool. ask anyone that isnt a comicbook nerd and the ultimate villain is Venom

I agree. Why ARE we getting Gwen now? Unless they're setting it during the events of Spider-Man 1, between Uncle Ben's death and the Goblin fiasco be fore he sees MJ again.

Anyway, the story is messed up either way.

Bryce Howard? Something sounds fishy about that, considering that she doesn't look anything like Gwen Stacy.

Your totally correct Marcus that Raimi has not known what he has been doing since he started.some people around here just dont get that though. Hey,you forgot to mention that he turned the green goblin into a power ranger and Peter Parker into a monster with organics.

Well normally I would be elated about this news that my favorite supporting character of the spider-man comics Gwen Stacy is going to be in a sequel and finally get her due since those jerks left her out of the 90's toon, but seeing as how they screwed up mary janes character making her nothing at all like the mj from the comics by making her much more like gwen stacy,they will probably go and make Gwen Stacys character either like Mj or like spideys sister said,the deliquent trouble maker they made her into in the ultimate spiderman comics. At first when I heard this news from both here and the shh boards,I was elated that finally my favorite supporting character of the spidey comics the gorgeous Gwen Stacy was finally making it to the screen,but after looking at the pics of that girl Howard who they have cast for the role,that elation is gone for good.I mean that girl is UGLY. Raimi has got to be on drugs,first he goes and casts a blond for MJ,NOW we get a red head for Gwen Stacy. Besides, when Gwen first appeared, she was very temperamental and catty, almost reminiscent of the way Felicia Hardy was portrayed in the 90s Animated Series. It's only when she and Peter got together and Captain Stacy was introduced along with his death did she start adopting the whole "next-door girl-crying on Peter's shoulder" personality.

God, I want a HOT girl to play Gwen. Perhaps they're worried that they shouldn't overshadow Kirsten Dunst's MJ (who looked ok in the 1st movie but was never MJ-HOT).

There really wasn't even chemistry between the two characters. One was model the other a geeky newspaper photographer. Marvel has been trying to change the character of MJ to make it more fitting for Peter. In the Man-spider films they illustrate MJ as a struggling stage actress. That is pure bull. But anyways as long as she says "Get'em Tiger" all the fanatics will be pleased. I quite personally just want my old time favorite high school geek Spider-Man back.

Who on earth would cast any person as bad as any howard person to play a part in this film. Not even raimi. If she's in this. and one of the worst villians (sandman) then this film is screwed. definetly not seeing it

I sense someone here living in denial. because it has been confirmed in every major news source around the country that its official.Sony is just a step behind in things obviously.I just think its sad that you didnt feel this way when the first film was coming out and just be content like I was to wait till it came out on cable.

Figures. There's no confirmation of Gwen Stacy. I doubt they're gonna bring her in, mostly because it makes about as much sense as Mac Gargan being Venom. Somebody told me that Gargan was a better Venom a couple days ago, and I kicked him in the nuts. Anyway, now that I've seen that it isn't confirmed by Sony, I doubt its happening. Venom in the movie at least would make a little sense, even though he's confirmed.

A while back I was hoping for Topher Grace to play a little wimpy Mac Gargan and then when he becomes Scorpion, he looks like Thomas Haden Church to be Scorpion.

Back when Sandman wasnt confirmed, i was just hoping for a more exciting villain. Scorpion can fit in, he doesnt need much development since Jonah's conflict with spiderman has been made since day ONE. that woulda been cooler than Sandman, and his family.

Don't get me wrong. I like the Scorpion. However, I hate Mac Gargan as Venom. I'm writing a fanfic where Brock was saved by an EMT team, and broke into Rykers during the incident that the New Avengers tried to avert in The Raft. I had Venom snap his neck.

Anyway, I think that Venom will happen, because he's one of the most developed Spidey characters there is. I'd even enjoy it if Venom came about first, and he and Spidey both took on Sandman.

geez I wish people would bother to read what the previous posts said before posting. If they did you all would know that its every bit as official that howard is playing gwen and that gwen is in the film as much as it is that mcguire is back as peter. AGAIN,its been all over every major newspaper and magazine in the country that howard is playing gwen and that its been confirmed.Its not like it was in the beginning when there were all these false rumors going around that James cameron who was originally suppose to direct the first spidey film with no official confirmation on it.THIS IS ALL OFFICIAL.accept it.

There's a bit more room for him to come in though. I mean, Venom is one of the top 3 Spidey villains, and the other two were already done. I doubt that they'll leave Eddie out of the series.

i think Venom is the least favourite of sam raimi. He thinks Venom is scary and evil. While the other two, Ock and Goblin are NOT evil, but affected by the super soldier gas and a.i. tentacles...thats why he had to change Doc in the movie

Green Goblin is evil though. He wasn't ever a nice guy, just a charming business man.

Both of them were evil. In the comics, neither can really be seen as good in any way, shape, or form. However, Venom has saved a lot of lives, and has been screwed over by Spidey more than once. Venom isn't a saint, but he's not a raving baby killer or obsessive psycho.

Peter is having huge troubles in the begining, shutting mary jane out, guy is all lovey dovey until terrible accident changes him into a villain, Spidey and villain fight, Villain puts civilians in harms way so he can escape while spidey has to save them, Villain kidnaps mary jane, spidey has to rescue a bunch of civialins and mary jane, spidey and villain fight, villain dies, spidey goes on about his destiney, kisses mary jane and swings of into the city.

Not only because Miss Howard is the opposite to the character, her character should be in the first movie, not now, it doesnt make sense. Too many characters in a movie to be some decent movie.
