Is Science Beginning to Loose it's Practicality?

I've always believed that "Science" was a faith based endeavor. The biggest differences between today's scientists and the scientists of yester-year are the core value systems that each group follows. With all of the studies revolving around parallel worlds, space aliens, evolution..etc..has science become more of a fantasy based pursuit, as opposed to being a practical one?

Maybe science is finially evolving.

"lose". stick out tongue

Science is simply applied common sense. It is the most (if not the only) reliable tool for understanding the world. But common sense can be skewed by agendas, eg, big business, religionism.

Just like the problem is not religion, or guns, or nukes, the problem isn't with science. It's with people: fearful, egoistic bits of protoplasm with inappropriately godlike aspirations.

Mindship
Science has its starting points in philosophy ("faith"wink, in that sometimes exploration begins with a hunch (Einstein: imagination more important than knowledge). But then it proceeds in a logical, systematic fashion to delineate reliable (valid?) information.

With interest in higher dimensions and parallel universes blossoming (cuz mathematically, this seems to be the route to take with Physics' Holy Grail), we are at a point where our aspirations have outpaced our reach...but this is likely a temporary state of affairs.

As long as we are honest and fair in our scientific endeavors (and this Can include the exploration of Spirit, as well as other perceivable realities outside our own), science will always be our best bet.

ALL the studies being done on those obtuse topics(minus evolution) you say...........................I would almost be willing to bet my Grandma's grave those types of studies combined take up LESS then 5% of all money for research perhaps with the exception of evolution.

You seem to be looking in the wrong places and really do you think the public wants to read about genetics and mapping genomes or about the chance to see an "alien." Forget the hype buy some good research books.

In the end the largest fantasy based pursuit on this planet is religion no no call it what it is philosophy.

What a desperate topic!

Science is the foundation stone of modern civilisation and will continue to be so- on rational, practical grounds. Live with it.

i love it.
an entire thread made simply to jab at the evolution theory, and nothing more
shall we expect many more veiled topic duplicate threads? are you taking lessons in posting from whirley?

It's not wholly proven. Might be in some points, but not in all.....There is much new science that is coming out to link the two in some way. Would it be a problem to see things differently than the old? Science is always evolving as it should be...whats the problem with new information..

So it's true, Rorschach tests can affect sexual preference.

You'll go far with this, Mech.

Although I always looked at that album cover as a splash of milk, mid-splash.

Which, I guess leaves another interpretation open, meaning the test is extra-effective. This is Nobel level.

Hold on! I said it reminded me of a fresh morning dew covered vagina, spreading it's feminine petals toward rays of dawning sunlight. I never said I would ask it out on a date.

Although TO BE FAIR, it wouldn't be called a solar system if it was geocentric.

I think we need to know science first instead of take precipitated conclusions. That is just propaganda against science. What do you know about parallel universes ? Do you know quantum mechanics to know if parallel universes are totally senseless or if it have some fundation ?

Darth Jello
Hey, if it weren't for science we would have conquored the evils of immorality, secularsm, and jews* long ago.
