The world record on having the hiccups is 3 years (non-stop, homes!) So I guess you might have some time in the land of the living left, it just might suck ass if you are destined to break the record...

No way. It might have been 4 or even 5 years, as I wasn't 100% sure on it, but still aiming close.
Come on! who would go through 61 (SIXTY-ONE!!!) years of suffering the hiccups without seeking medical attention or just plain old shooting their head of, as a torment that durable must drive one totally nuts.
The record is 'just' a few years, and that still makes me wonder why the subject of it did not choose one of the solutions I mentioned above in all that time.

Rev I have a cure for you. just concentrate on waiting for the next hiccup. make sure there are no distractions. just wait thinking when the next one will come. keep doing this.. if you get distracted start again. you may hiccup once or twice but just keep concentrating about when the next hiccup will come.

Did a google on it, and T.M. might be correct on this...
Many sites, including Guinness, mention a certain Charles Osborne who suffered the hiccups for at least 65 years, although it varied in it's frequency, it was to be considered constant.
And indeed the story goes that he led a married life and had several children...
Guess he really really loved his family and put them above his own wellbeing, cause I would have pulled a 'Amityville horror' on my surroundings if I had to hiccup for 65 years
