Sure it is. Just some kiddos pretending to be bad, while recognising the fact it's just a role-play. The idea itself can lead to amusing plot-twists and creative storytelling, as long as people remember it's just an RP.

It doesn't fall under the idea of an RP as I see it. It's just a spontaneous themed social thread. If we closed threads on that basis, queeq's would go, the Gentleman's Club would never have been allowed, and so on.

If it becomes more game than social then it will go, but I doubt it.

But isn't that the basis of Unhosted RP's? Just running around "in character".

Even in Unhosted, there's much more 'game' involved than in threads like that.

'In character' is highly questionable there too, because the character seems to be... themselves, just in Mafia style.

Oh, because someone adopting a name like that is the be-all and end-all if what is an RP or not? Lord no. As I remember it, half of queeq's bars were much more RP-like than that thread, and people would spend time doing rp-like things all the time. Doesn;t make the thread an RP.

Well, when I looked in that theead, in my judgment it had become much much much more like an Unhosted RP. Furthermore, there was quite a lot of buzz from people involved who actively wanted it to be a proper RP, and had made it so, away from being a social thread. There was even a movement to re-start it in Unhosted, but not enough people wanted to leave the OTF. (shrugs) There you go.

Yes it does...difference is Queeqs bars were acceptd by the majority as a social thread. Mafia Doesn't do that!

It seems most people outside the mafia want the thread closed...close it!

This it not about grounds to close threads on, it's about grounds that keep threads like the one discussed alive rightfully. Now the Mob thing is in my opinion a funny parody on organised crime voted through humorist posts by sarcastic members here, and of course, a few of those that take it a tad to serious (but that will only lead to more entertaining confrontations).
Quite harmless as long as the contestants see it as a sarcastic game, and even more entertaining when one of them starts taking it serious.

Then how about an OTF Sub-Forum for OTF RP's?

I'm tired of seeing them in the OTF because the members of said threads get cocky, post mainly in those threads, and the rest of the OTF is left with few posts and Forum Games (which in themselves are repetitive and boring as well).

Alike any annoying aspect of this world, they thrive on attention. Outsmart them in their own game or ignore them to get rid of 'em

I would gladly ignore them if Raz would bring back the Ignore Threads feature.

Well, if you want to ask for an OTF subthread, feel free to do so in the N&Q area. But I really don't see them as being much else than an extension of social threads, so that will be a tough sell.

There are a few points that the Mafia thread went more RP like, but on that basis I'd probably end up closing half the OTF. If it becomes decidedly and protractedly RP like, I will close it. I think it's more likely to get closed for encouraging bashing first, though.

It's not about that. I can look over the threads, but when these threads I never go into bury all of the unique/new threads it becomes irksome to find them. If I can just have those threads removed from my view it becomes easier.

It never was or will be a contest, it is something that could be given attention to and lived in to. On the other side of the dime, it is more easily to be ignored instead of being negatively captivated by it.

Again, the dictionary doesn't prove it is a roleplay, I already proved to you that, according to that definition, it isn't a valid roleplay because it isn't serious enough, there is no drama within the mafia thread.

It Doesn't matter, Serious or not it still would be classified as it becasue they take the role of someone other then themselve, I agree its not serious but it still shouldn't be clamming up the OTF.

No it wouldn't. Read the damn definition. It has the word "Drama" is right there. There is no drama in the mafia thread.

Also, the whole OTF is basically the toilet of KMC. It's where all the stupid, silly, idioitic and off the wall threads belong. The Mafia thread is in the right place.

A drama Doesn't have to be serious, I have been in Drama plays that aren't.

It has to be more serious then that mafia thread is, which, again, is just a bunch of people screwing around without any actual design or story.

No, it was posted in the right spot. The RP sections is reserved for real RP's with a consistant storyline and at least some degree of seriousness.

But if you read the first post in the mafia thread, it was made for an RP then people took it out and made it what it is.

I read the first post, it wasn't an RP. Again, it didn't offer enough real story or character creation, it was just a bunch of silly stuff, no real direction or anything.
