This series is known as 'Sweep' in the USA. They are a series of books by Cate Tiernan. She writes about a witch named Morgan, who has just discovered she is a 'blood witch' and has powers.

I would highly reccomend these books to anyone who has not read them, they are simply brilliant! I urge you to check them out, if you haven't already.
