This movie looks very promising.

2 great actors like Mos Def and Bruce Willis in a single movie makes me a happy man.

Looks like it could be ok. I'm not a big Mos Def fan though.

Cinemaddiction
One strike against this movie is that it's incredibly similar to "S.W.A.T.".

Observe.

16 Blocks

"An aging cop (Willis) is assigned the ordinary task of escorting a fast-talking witness (Def) from police custody to a courthouse. There are however forces at work trying to stop prevent them from making it. "

S.W.A.T.

"An imprisoned drug kingpin offers a huge cash reward to anyone that can break him out of police custody and only the LAPD's Special Weapons and Tactics team can prevent it."

Kind of an odd observation, but the movie poster is similar to "Ocean's 11".

That's nothing.

Check out 'The Gauntlet'

"A hard but mediocre cop is assigned to escort a prostitute into custody from Las Vegas to Phoenix, so that she can testify in a mob trial. But a lot of people are literally betting that they won't make it into town alive."

Solo
Has potential to be decent.

DarkWizard
It's directed by Rich Donner.

And I would also like to add, That Mos Def's characters name is 'Eddie Bunker'

Now, Who can tell me why 'Eddie Bunker' sounds familiar?

Any Reservoir Dogs fan would know...

Just furthur proving my point that the story is nothing new. Richard Donner hasn't had a decent movie in 20 years. I hope they don't rely on his namesake to sell this movie.

As for Eddie Bunker, he's a VERY obscure name in Hollywood, aside from "Reservoir Dogs". Just to play along, it's Mr. Blue, who was actually recently parodied in "My Big Fat Independent Movie", under the character "Bald Genius" played by Rob Schrab

Although it isn't 100% fresh, I expect the movie to differentiate itself from the movies that are similar. Mos Def doesn't fit the "Hooker" description, and from the trailer I see some good acting from him, when I compare his acting to that of 'Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy'. But It's overall hard to judge the 75 seconds I got. The Gauntlet wasn't a bad movie. But it could have been A LOT better. Let's just hope '16 Blocks' Learns from past mistakes and uses the knowledge handed to them, for the better. This is one of the few films I am looking forward to this opening movie season. And personally, I can't wait.

I finally caught this at the Cinema Cafe, and I really enjoyed it. I would reccomend this movie to anyone. Richard Donner did a fantastic job on the action sequences. Which is something he is known for. And Mos Def delivered an entertaining and realistic performance.

I just watched this on DVD, it's really good. The DVD gives you the option to view it with the alternate ending, which I did first, then I watched the theatrical ending, both were good, one a bit more sad than the other. Very good movie, though! I suggest renting it.

systemshock2
I saw this at the Dollar Theater a few weeks ago and it was much better than I anticipated. Bruce Willis and David Morse are especially good in this film. While it's true that a lot of the material has already been done before, there's a lot of credit to the acting, writing, and directing when it still comes out good. In particular is a great scene near the end of the movie where Bruce Willis and David Morse confront one another. Some very powerful acting and dialogue. If you get a chance to see it on DVD, I highly recommend it.

Solo
I'm a huge Mos Def fan, he's a great actor and one of my favorite musicians. But I thought he was nothing special in this. The movie wasn't very good, I was disappointed.

Myth
Its cliche for the most part. One little twist that made it not so: Bruce Willis was part of their conspiracy. Other than that it was just your average action flick that is just one step above SWAT.

Outcesticide
It was an okay movie. I was expecting more.

Mosley wasn't part of any conspiracy, really. He was just a crooked cop like the rest of the force who ended playing a modern day "Serpico", that's all. He was supposed to escort Bunker (Mos Def) to the courthouse, and when he found out it was to testify against the cops, including himself, instead of offing Bunker, he helped him escape. Then Willis' character felt compelled to use that day as the one to turn his life around, like Bunker did.

It's a great story of personal redemption, and far from a cliche action movie (given there was very little.). I enjoyed it very much, even if Mos Def's "accent" was borderline annoying as hell. Well written and directed, IMO. Not to mention effective.

Dusty
I didn't find Def's Accent annoying.
