Just curious if anyone has seen this movie? It's a fake snuff film and is supposed to be really really extreme. It's kinda caught my interest, but I don't really want to blind buy it seeing as it's somewhat expensive and only available directly through the distributer online.

Any opinions on this movie or the sequel, if anyone has seen either of them, would be welcome. Thanks.

Wow, I just read about it on imdb. Sounds very interesting, I'd love to take a look at it. How much is it through the distributer?

I've actually heard that this movie IS very extreme. I, too, want to see it, but am kinda skeptical about blind buying. Alas, I cannot tell you anything more.

I got this movie for Christmas, and was pretty impressed. It does feel very authentic and real. It has a great atmosphere.

The acting is surprisingly competent and the gore and violence is used absolutely perfectly, just enough to make it vile and disturbing, but never over the top to remind you that they're effects. The best praise I can give the effects is that you don't notice them, they feel organic and real, just like the rest of the film.

Also the special features were excellent, the interviews with the filmmaker and others were very interesting and help put the film in the necessary perspective.

This movie is boring, stupid, worthless crap.

It's more of a serial killers sick ass fantasy video, they wack off over the shit.

Since you're apparently knowledgeable about what murderers jack off too, can you tell me what kind of lube they use? Should be interesting.

But yeah, you just prove this film isn't for most people, nor should it be. It's a film for fans of the most hardcore and vile shit out there, stuff you can't go rent at Blockbuster or buy at Walmart, and no one else.

I wanna see this film but its too pricey .

I plan on watching it this weekend.

Im thinking of buying August underground's penance off ebay from the usa. What are the chances of customs taking it ?

I've heard a lot of people in the UK have trouble getting a copy from the US.

If it's a chance your willing to take, so be it, just don't get your hopes up.

Haven't seen the sequel yet.

But from what I understand it's quite a bit different from the original, less effective and subtle, and much more over the top with the violence and effects.

They've also just made a new one called Penance that is supposed to kinda get back to teh roots.

I really should order the both of them....

wow A.U. is sick .. the realism from the cam style video capture makes the torture scenes ever more disturbing .. than say something like Hostel.. i should have known better before viewing it.. i never want to see it again (:

I watched August Underground's Mordum tonight and wow is it ****ed up . The bad thing about it is the camera sometimes its a pain in the ass but it also makes it seem more than just a film.

I refuse to pay more than $10.00 for a bootleg copy. Still, I want to see it!

I just saw August Underground's Mordum and Penance finally.

Mordum was pretty weak. As said above, they tried way way too hard with that and it ended up taking away from the realism. The effects were solid, I thought. Toe Tag is known for some of the best gore effects out there right now as far as realism goes. But the film as a whole was too over the top to really be anything but novelty. The one character in particular, the new guy who just ****s everything he sees was really kinda distracting and too silly. Thankfully, he's not in the other films. The most disturbing scene in Mordum was when one of the guys was having sex with the corpse of a little girl in a bathtub. The corpse in reality was just a doll, but that made it look even more messed up and creepy. He also remarks how "tight" she is. ****ed up shit, and by far the standout scene in the film

Penance was way better. The best in the August Underground Series. It combined the more believable atmosphere and tone of the original with some really hardcore scenes (including one home invasion scene that makes Henry's feel like Sesame street). It had some over the top stuff in it too, but they made it work a lot better than in Mordum, it didn't feel contrived or forced. And this was the first in the series where it actually felt like they were actually trying to tell a story, and explore a theme of some sort and even make a point with the film. As said above, this is the only one I'd really recommend to most horror fans. It's much easier to appreciate than the first two (though I think the original still is the most authentic and believable fake snuff film I've ever seen) and is much more engaging. Watching both Mordum and Penance in one sitting, you can really tell how much the filmmaker's matured going from Mordum to Penance.
