The book is probably one of the greatest childrens books in the world. Ever. The drawings that accompany it are perfect. Choosing Spike Jonze to direct the movie version is absolutely inspired. Dave Eggers has written two of my favorite books. He's the screenwriter.

How can this seemingly perfect mix go wrong? It can't! It can't!

Anyway, does anyone else have any news on this project? Any idea if it's going to be animated, CGI or digital? Info! I need info!

As something to do while we wait for news, please feel free to post your favorite Wild Thing. This one is mine because he looks like a strange mix of my dad and a very naughty boy...

Hope it's not as bad as The Polar Express.

That's a weird thing to say. The only thing that relates them is that they are children's books. The story and styles are totally different.

Nevermind
Spike Jonze is an awesome director. I haven't even touched Where The Wild Things Are since at least early elementary. I remember enjoying it as a kid though. I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

I was going to ask the same thing, as if Spike Jonez directed "Polar Express". He did, however, helm "Being John Malkovich".

..we'll also forget about Adaptation..sweep that right under the rug..

I meant as in 'Children's book adaptations'.

I hadn't even seen the book in about a decade, until I bumped into it in a bookstore the other week. I bought it immediately to show my girlfriend because she's an illustrator. Then, I was checking out new movies on imdb and spotted this. It seems too perfect...

Are you saying that you didn't like either of those movies? I loved them both!

EDIT: Wait a minute! Is that a witty joke on the word 'adaaptation'? Boy! I'm quick today.

BackFire
Adaptation's solid, as is Polar Express.

This one looks promising.

Oh, no...rumors of a possible reshoot and rewrite! Please say it ain't so - I love Jonze and Eggers!

Here's that leaked early test footage:

(Don't wait too long to check it out...It'll probably be gone soon!)

I'm not sure what to think of all of this. It looked like they were able to do the facial effects just fine in that leaked test clip. I find it hard to believe that the hold back on this movie would be do to technical issues, I mean Spike Jonze is a tech wizard, along with Hensen and Co., how could they go wrong. A darker scarier version could work really well if it is targeted to those of us who loved the book as children and are now adults, it could scare us all over again. I remember, and it's been a while so I don't remember the exact image, but there was one page as a kid I made my mom skip because it was so scary. If the kid in the movies sucks as an actor and the themes seem too adult, maybe it is reshoot worthy, but yeah, I think they should keep Spike on board. However, it'd be nice to see both versions if they do indeed reshoot it.

Please god, let them show the kid Max chase the dog around with a fork, please!
