Why do we die?

Why do we die? I believe that we die because we as humans lose the will to live. why do you think that we die?

Death is change, and change is what reality is about. If there was not gonna be any change, then why bother with existence? Might as well have stayed Nothing, instead of Something.

If you're less philosophically inclined, death of old organisms makes room for new organisms, this providing opportunity for continuing evolution, which is necessary for a species to survive, given that environments change.

For those purely biologically oriented: death happens because the molecular machinery responsible for cellular reproduction wears out over time, as does any machine.

Like mysticism? Death allows for liberation from the dream of life, so that when we return to the next dream, hopefully we will have learned something which, in the end, will return us to the Source from which everything springs.

I like the mysticism aspect but I would have answered the less philosophical route. I mean it is a needed cycle and its needed to give life its purpose and definition. I mean imagine being immortal, at some point it becomes a living hell.

Death exists because change exists like Mindship said. Even in physics there is a law that says things have a tendency to change, it is the second law of thermodynamics or the law of entropy. Ordered systems have a tendency to increase its disorder, and living beings are very highly ordered systems, and like any systems they have a tendency to disorder, what means death for them.

Everything that has a begining has an end.

To make room for the next generation. The space of our environment is limited and if we didn't die, we would run out of space and all die.

Yes, I have read that we could live up to 300 years if it wasn't for some genetic process that makes us die earlier. I think this is a balancing act of evolution. Each species has its life cycle shortened until it reaches a balance with its environment.

Thank God there is death... how the world will be with the entire humanity being immortal, all of them living their worthless lives doing nothing usefull for the rest of eternity.

Maybe death just exist because it is not the purpose of the universe to let humanity live their mundane pleasures of life forever, maybe we are just not so important.

fair enough!!

we die because as humans grow and grow they lose the will to live. they think that they a\have no meaning to this life that they possess but if you really want to live you can as long as you may want that what I believe. Immortality is possible.

But there will come a point in life were you want to put on a new body. 😆

Death gives life value.

rip

blimey, I was supposed to remember something...

Death is what we're doing when we're not living........Or you could look at as these bodies are our deaths and our deaths are our real living.

I agree with Mindship, death is the very thing that gives live purpose, it for a large part defines our actions our behaviour and our goals... Much of what we do, we do because of the fact that we will eventually die. Because we only have a limited time to do it. Without death we wouldn't really be alive.

Life ends so life can begin
