Well, you can not deny that many people got some inspiration from it, one way or another. On the other hand you posted a pic of yourself, I think you lost all right to complain about any picture in here.

It's a great picture.
The flag flying signifies hope, flying over a destroyed city.
If I'm right, Germany surrendered very soon after the fall of Berlin and Hitler's suicide..
Maybe it shows us that everything gets better eventually.
Fishy
It shows the struggle and the hope of one soldier who went through a ravaged city to plant his flag on the top building of the enemy, it signals the end of WWII in Europe.. It may not be the most inspirational pic in this topic, but many pics aren't inspirational, this one does mean something though, and I thought it was worth posting.
Besides who are you to critize with the pics you posted
Wesker
My pics are amazing. The Pope commends them.
And considering the bloodshed, rape and pillaging that occured before and after that flag was raised, I look at that and see tragedy.
Fishy
How about that picture of that American flag being raised in Iwo Jima? Does that not then signal the same?
To me this just shows the end of one of the bloodiest struggles ever... The end of the last big war in Europe. How against all odds a country did manage to win because of the idiot of a leader that lead Germany during those times....
Wesker
Iwo Jima was a battle. This was an invasion that would leave lasting marks on the nation for generations. The fall of Berlin was perhaps one of the darkest times for the German people, and ushered a new age of communism and political danger. Regular citizens suffered at the hands of Russian troops and forces all because of Hitler's insanity. While you could say that Russian civilians suffered at the hands of the German soldiers in the east, it doesn't justify this. It is not a scene of inspiration; it's a sad time in history. Now if it had been an allied flag over the Reichstag, it would be different.

I think you are over simplifying the situation. Yeah sure Eastern Europe suffered because of what Russia did, but do you have any idea how easily the west gave away much of the east to the Russians just to carry their favour just to make sure that the russians would stay in the war? Just to make sure that the Russians would help them, do you have any idea how much the west gave to Russia to make sure it would have a chance against the Nazi's?
This picture does not really show the beginning of a good time, it does however show the ending of a bad time. But really I don't care what you think about the picture or not, I like it. It means something to me, what you think about it, isn't really important. You think what you want to think, thats why people post different pictures in this topic anyways.

I think it's rather difficult to call that the 'exact moment when a US presidency changes' seeing as he was unable to respond for another 10 minutes or so. Also, he's been quoted as saying that he watched the plane hit the WTC before he even went into the classroom!
What Bush said in Orlando Florida on December 4, 2001:
"Actually I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, "There's one terrible pilot." And I said, "It must have been a horrible accident." But I was whisked off there - I didn't have much time to think about it."
and at a town meeting in Ontario in January 2002:
"first of all, when we walked into the classroom, I had seen this plane fly into the first building. There was a TV set on. And you know, I thought it was pilot error and I was amazed that anybody could make such a terrible mistake. And something was wrong with the plane"
Anyway, an inspirational picture:

an excellent example. But, I don't think this was when the american presidency changed. Simply went on being more of the same, maybe. But no change. It does, however, illustrate how little the people and the presidency have in common.
Dreampanther
I never could have done it
I'd be filled with too much rage
I'd extract a pint of blood
For each trapped in that cage
I'd tell it all to Oprah
Scream it night and day
"Those dirty bastards raped my soul,
There's gonna be some kind of hell to pay."
Mandela, bodhisattva
Revenge would be the fashion
You breathe in the pain of the world
And you breath out compassion
Who wouldn't be bitter
For all the whips you tasted
They came begging, "Bail us out"
I'd have spit in their faces
Where'd you find the grace
Refuse your tooth for a tooth
Finally got your freedom
Who could ever give you back your youth
So many presidents
Feed the corporation
You give half your salary
To the children of your nation
In this upside-down kingdom
The fat cat's foiled again
Again the so-called savage
Shames the so-called "civilized man"
(This is not my poem, by the way! Just found it, along with the pic...)
PS "Bodhisattva" is a Buddhist term for "compassionate being."

That is Valentino Rossi, the greatest MotoGP rider on the grid today & arguably the greatest yet.
Those images are from the first race of 2004 in Welkom, South Africa, where he proved that the rider was just as important (if not more important) then machine, as he won on a poor performing Yamaha after switching from the Honda he rode the previous season. That day he made Motorsport history.
