Most people claim a specific faith. A few are devout in their beliefs. A few are aetheists. Rergardless of your individual beliefs, how would alien invasion affect what/who you believe in?

It probably wouldn't affect anything unless the aliens could provide prove that god does or does not exist. Unless they can do that I don't think a lot will change for most people.

Ok...a little more detail then.

Aliens invade, cure all disease, end hunger and poverty (much to the dismay of the wealthy) and elevate human consciousness. Within 10 year every man, woman and child on Earth think using 100% of brain (currently estimated at 10%). People naturally live to an average of 180 years, longer thru artificial means. Do we still have a need for religion?

Really hard to say really, what would we learn what we know about? What extra information would we be given? If God does not exist it would be logical to assume it was invented for a few reasons

1.) Power
2.) To give our lives meaning
3.) To make us think that dying isn't really bad.

Well obviously the aliens would have all the power, but religion could still serve a huge power purpose, and could therefor still be important.

2.) Religion could also still serve to give us meaning, to give us a reason to continue living under the aliens or accept them as friends or even to rebel against them even though they gave us a lot of what we wanted and needed. We can see the aliens as a sign of the define.

3.) To make us think that dying isn't bad, now here is the hard part. If this stops then all other things stop, if we would suddenly learn that dead just completely removes us from existance our entire lives would change and religion would in one instance be completely destroyed. If we would find out that after death there would be heaven, then there would a huge need for religion because prove of god would suddenly be there.

It depends on those few things really, would they stay or would they fall. IF the aliens can remove power, or the need of power then religion would fall if they can destroy our need to give live a meaning then religion would be useless, if they can show us what will happen after death then religion would be useless.

If they can not do these things, then religion still serves a purpose.

Aliens would become god. Assuming such benevolent beings ever existed and did these great and wonderful benefits for mankind (Such seemingly pure altruism), they would be taken as angels and their leader as god, or perhaps something else. They could even attempt to make such claims based on the huge impact religion has on lesser civilizations and how it would make contact MUCh easier.

But if you're thinking we'll still have clay statues of Buddha or Jesus hanging around, I would think not.
