Here's the story, The Celestial Judge Arishem finds the planet Apokolips and surveys it... after years of judgement Arishem comes to the conclussion that Apokolips must be destroyed for it's barbaric ways... Darkseid notes the change in Arishems hand and how the strange giant now has his thumb pointing down... a revelation comes over him he knows his planets fate and attempts to communicate with Arishem, somehow his scientist create a device to contact Arishem... Darkseid makes a deal he says that if his champion can defeat any champion that Arishem can summon then Darseid will concede to the destruction of Apokolips, Darseid calls forth Orion, Arishem summons Thane Ector... this is a classic street fight Orion is not allowed to use any external devices except for the armor that he wears... will the citizens of Apokolips be evicted or will Orion save the day.

Yep! I think that if Thane fought Orion, that he would have an excellent chance of winning. Shyt he was embarassing Hercules, and the rest of the Avengers all on his own, and didn't appear to need any outside help whatsoever.
