There is a difference between poisonous and venomous. Poison is secreted through the skin; venom is injected with fangs, spines, stingers, and the like. They're often used interchangably, but it just bugs me.
And the Komodo dragon is techinically neither poisonous nor venomous; Komodo's have thousands upon thousands of bacteria living in their saliva, and the bacteria are the harmful creatures. It is a very symbiotic relationship.
Poisonous: Golden Poison Dart/Arrow frog: death through cardiac arrest. Then again, they don't produce their toxins themselves either...
Venomous: Inland Taipan, which, for all non-venomous snake freaks out there, is the most venomous and deadly of all the terrestrial snakes. Glorious death by asphyxiation due to respiratory paralysis (i.e. You can't breathe so you die). Barring that, a box jellyfish, undoubtubly the most venomous animal, but no where near as interesting to me as the taipan.

I was wondering why people were putting snakes and such in there when it said poisonous and not venomous. Chalk it up to general misknowledge.
Boxjellyfish would still be a fun thing to be. Not much in the way of deep thoughts, but stinging people would be amusing.
powerfulone1987
I'd like to try out a Poisonous Salamander. When a frog eats them, the poison that are secreted through their skin stiffens the frog and kills it and then the salamander crawls out of the frog after being eaten...SWEET!
No, really though, sounds interesting.
is it comprehensible.....
Dawson
The box jellyfish doesn't have a brain. They follow the current. There would be no deciding whether to sting or not; it would just happen.

Dawson
Give me a reason to tell you and I might. Besides, the fact that I'm working on an english paper tells you nothing about my age except that I'm still in school. I could be in first grade or I could be in my senior year in college, depending on what I was majoring in.

"Curiosity is not a sin".

Smilies are evil. They should be burned alive along with their followers.
And back on topic, I was assuming for the sake of argument that I could be a quasi-sentient jellyfish. I know that's like physically impossible, but so is becoming one. I'm not going to get totally realistic in a "What kind of poisonous creature" thread, of course.

But I'd probably be a rattlesnake, they give you a warning by ratteling and the louder it is, the more aggarvated they are, before finnaly they just get pissed off and take a bite out of you.
Also when people think of me they'll think of Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme music. That's worth it right there.

The Inland Taipan is also known as the Fierce Snake.
I'm assuming you're referring to the venomous Brown snake here.
There are three species of Brown Snake, Pseudonaja textilis, Pseudonaja affinis, and Pseudonaj nauchalis, if I'm not mistaken. All are native to Australia and do cause most snake-bite related deaths in that country.
However, the Inland Taipan's scientific name is Oxyuranus microlepidotus; they are not even in the same genus.

I'd probably be a Black Widow spider.
The female will sometimes eat the smaller male after mating. She will lay 300-400 eggs. The spiderlings (baby spiders) are not poisonous but they are cannibals, eating each other.

That may be true. But down under the brown is also called the inland Taipan because it lives inland and is a taipan. Go figure.
And it is by far the most venomous land snake on the planet.

Yes but I'm a snake lover. I'm scared of spiders though. *Runs away*. Actually I'm slowly but gradually trying to overcome my fear of spiders by myself. I found myself, last semester in school when a boy brought in a large red door spider in a jar, I found myself more fascinated than scared, surprisingly.
