Ok the premise is, Plactic Man (DC), vs Mr Fantastic (M). Mainstream versions of both with no back-up on either side or prep time. meaning that Mr Fantastic doesn't have something that his genius level intellect has allowed him to whip up for just such an occasion, and Plastic man has no plan formulated in advance. who wins?

It ends in a draw with both of them knotted up.

Thats the difference. Reed is a genius first who powers are second. Plastic man is comedy relief with powers and yes he is in another league.

Plastic Man. He's more durable and can stretch farther, and thus can make 5x better shapes than Reed. Plastic Man 8-9/10.

OK then I guess we have a definitive winner.

Plastic man....With out his intelligence, MF has no chance.

Plastic Man , heavy machine gun fire made him laugh. In his own words "Hey that tickles".

Plastic Man turned himself into a bug spray to fight Queen Bee. What's more, he flushed a guard down a toilet version of himself.

Plastic Man is uber compared to Reed.

Easy answer: Plastic Man wins this 10/10 if Reed doesn't have access to tech/intellect/prep.
It's that simple.

When it comes to elasticity Plastic Man is leagues beyond any other 'stretcher' and virtually all shapeshifters.
Add to this the fact that PM is virtually immortal .....in Obsidian Age the guy was reduced to molecules for years, and still came back. In Tower of Babel he was frozen and shattered, and still came back.

He was also the only character that could go against MartianManhunter Fernus.

Anyways .....unless Reed has access to technology he has absolutely no chance against PM.

Well, no one is going to argue that PM wins the GQ-look-of-the-year award.

But he'll still make Reed look like 5-day old 20-cent Oklahoman fish bait in a rusted can in the fight situation specified above (in other words Reed will get pwned major).

As far as I know, Plasticman would easily outlive Reed.
