What makes the delorean go up and down?

I was watching BTTF Pt 2, and it got me thinking how the hell does doc make the car go further up in the sky and then makes it go really low so that it's close to the ground?

I'm guessing there's either buttons, the steering wheel moves in and out or up and down to mimic an... airplane... stick... or there's a lever.
