Kakashi because he can copy Gai's moves anyways, unless Gai open the eight gates then they're both dead!

Have any of ever watched the series...Gai and Kakashi are even. Gai has one more win over Kakashi though but they don't always fight. In a fight they are even cause Gai knows not to look at the Sharigan and to watch his feet. Gai = Kakashi. It all depends on whoever gets lucky this time.

Kakashi can't copy Gai's Taijutsu with the sharigan Sasuke tried against lee.

it will be a hard fight but like someone mentioned it will go down to luck but i'm saying Gai because.

he's a taijitsui specialist meaning he's phyically better then kakashi inclduing speed, not only that he can read body movements and knows other jitsui, moreover when ''facing itachi'' gai said he has come up ways to combat 'sharigan' so how knows what else he can do to someone who has sharigan.

i see kakashi having a harder time copying gai's taijitsui espiically with that mans speed. it will be all over anyway when gai bored and unlocks his gates

Kakashi's eye jutsu doesn't need eye to eye contact if I remember right when he used it on that clay girl.

Tie. Don't underestimate Gai just because the way he acts and looks.

first of all, kakashi and gai have an even score in gai's little games. that doesnt mean theyre even in a fight. considering kakashi's personality, he most likely amuses himself by keeping his score even with gai and letting gai think theyre equal. kakashi is a legendary genius who trained under the 4th. he became a jounin at 13(thats b4 he got his sharingan eye). he's copied well over a thousand techniques. why would anyone think he wouldnt be able to open the nine gates as well. it's not a bloodline limit. sasuske matched lee's speed after seeing it just once (that was when sasuske only had partially activated his eyes) and sasuke wasnt anywhere near where kakashi was at his age. so even if gai can win in a sprint or in a push-up copmetition or some goofy game, he'd last about 30 seconds in a fight with kakashi. kakashi may not be as fast and strong, but fighting kakashi would be similar to when sasuke couldnt move as fast as naruto in their fight. his sharingan would make up for it. gai is just an amusement to kakashi. they are not rivals, gai considers kakashi his rival, but kakashi knows gai is no competition. i personally think kakashi is the best ninja in kanoha. he's well rounded. very smart fighter like shikamaru, very good close range/taijutsu fighter, very good long range too. he's resourceful( a lotta techniques), he's expericed (killed a lotta great ninja), he can do genjutsu, taijutsu, ninjutsu, doujutsu, fuuninjutsu, and prolly kinjutsu. only others in the village who could maybe do all that is maybe jiraya, but not really in the village because he's always travelling.

Kakashi is leagues cooler and therefore wins by default.

Kinda hard to pick there both really good fighter but Gai is really underrated

i used to think gai was a really great fighter, but after i saw that he had to open like 5 gates just to beat kisame's clone or whatever it was--the guy kisame used to fight who was only supposed to have like a quarter of kisame's actual strength--i dont really think gai's all that. he didnt use anything but taijutsu. if his ninjutsu was any good he would have used it before resorting to a forbidden technique. and i dont see him practice anything but taijutsu. he's obviously good because he's a high ranked jounin, but he's not at kakashi's level. in a fight between the two, i dont think gai's speed would help even is kakshi didnt use sharingan because kakshi isnt exactly slow, plus i doubt there's a ninja alive that can form seals faster.

question: doesnt it take a lot of chakra control to walk on water, because im pretty positive i remember seeing lee walk o water when they fought kisame. what's up with that?

You don't have to know ninjutsu or genjutsu to be a good ninja. Didn't Rock Lee teach anybody that?

Purely because he's never fallen for anything twice, coupled with the fact he's seen Gai fight many many times, i see this going to Kakashi.

I do't think Gai using gates vs Kisame is reason enough to assume he's weaker, don't forget, we still haven't seen Gai remove his weights yet have we?

We've never seen Itachi or Kisame use any power or exert themselves at all..so we don't know who is stronger as it never really says.

The Sharingan's biggest thing is genjutsu though.

Kakashi has never shown he can see people move like Sasuke did against Naruto...and Sasuke hasn't shown that again either when he was fighting Deidara. Also Sasuke couldn't keep up Lee's speed as long as Lee can, and he's not as strong. Sasuke got the speed by using chakra while Lee has it naturally. Kakashi could possibly do it also but Gai would be a lot better at moving at high speed, plus Kakashi wouldn't be able to get faster than the gates.

Gai has watched Kakashi fight also and they know each other like the back of their hands but Kakashi more or less relies on his sharingan in a battle against a skilled opponent to know what they are doing but he can't do that with Gai, and using the sharingan causes a strain on his body that I doubt he'd do anyway fighting Gai because the battle wouldn't be over with quick and all that Kakashi has shown with his eye would be useless. He won't be able to hypnotize Gai like he did Zabuza since Gai looks at his feet, and the mangekyou sharingan attack Kakashi has to aim and he'll have a hard time aiming at something moving fast as Gai. Not to mention Gai wouldn't be charging straight in. Like Lee said about himself..He can't charge straight in because he doesn't have the eyes to do so. Gai won't be in a straight line while moving with the gates or at full speed so it's going to be even harder with Gai circiling around him and hitting him from all different sides.

Sure Kakashi's ninjutsu could help him out more than Gai's taijutsu but I doubt just because Kakashi has the mangekyou sharingan is going to be a deciding factor.

i dont think that statement about sasuke is supported by anything. i dont doubt, however, that sasuke is ideed insanely faster than naruto inside kento's head.

but that doesnt have nothing to do with gai and kakashi.

I'm sure the sharingan would have nothing to do with Kisame listening to Itachi. I don't care how much chakra you would have but Genjutsu that put Kakashi in a coma, and fire that burns hotter than the sun isn't anything to screw around with.

Kakashi also has been hit by plenty of things that means there has to be a limit to the whole predicting movements. So has Sasuke during shippuden. It still has to do with eye contact in Kakashi's case what would make Sasuke's or Itachi's any different?

Kakashi was always fast enough for Lee, as was Gai. Sasuke couldn't even use the speed for a fraction of the time Lee did and was getting tired before he even went to use chidori.

Every fight Kakashi has ever had in Naruto against somebody not fodder he always had to rely on the sharingan. Kakashi is a genius ninja sure but he would have been dead by creating chidori if not for the 4th also. Besides Gai has already said him being Kakashi's rival has let him see the weakness in the sharingan beause he's been around it and learned through fighting it meaning Kakashi has used the sharingan when they fight. And Gai watching Kakashi is the same since Gai is good at reading people without some plot device like the sharingan.

Being rounded in taijutsu, ninjutsu, and genjutsu doesn't mean anything. His genjutsu he gets from the sharingan is useless because Gai won't be looking at it. Genjutsu that he could use without Gai would be able to dispell. Ninjutsu, doesn't mean an auto win at all. Taijutsu, Gai probably has the speed advantage, and just copying Gai isn't going to mean he can easily beat him. Not with Gai's own taijutsu at least. I don't even think Kakashi could handle the Primary Lotus either, doing or receiving it.

genjutsu, ninjutsu, sharingan,...whatever--none of them alone mean automatic win. all of them together mean likely win tho. if lee could do primary lotus as a 13 yr old genin who couldnt even make final round of the chuunin exam ,i think a guy who was a jounin at 13 would be able to do primary lotus when he is 26 and aquired sharingan.

The point is that it's not known if Kisame is weaker chakra wise but he could still listen because Itachi's Mangekyou Sharingan is enough to make anybody do it. Kisame knows what it is capable of and he has no way to block it so in a fight Kisame would loose.

The thing the Sharingan is best known for is it's genjutsu. That is the thing that it uses most offensively and defensively.

Doesn't Gai even say that he reads people by the way they move their feet so Kakashi's sharingan won't have any effect? Not exactly those words but still. And what did Zabuza do when he realized how Kakashi beat him? He made it so Kakashi couldn't see in their next fight and the sharingan. If it could see like Sasuke did then Kakashi should never be hit, and Gai with just taijutsu should pose no problem even if he doesn't look at the sharingan.

The fact that Gai can tell what somebody does by looking at their feet...I'm sure that's pretty good at reading somebody. And even still he considers Kakashi his rival and with Gai's personality he'd learn everything about him. The way he fights, what moves he uses mostly, everything. And Gai even says he learned to do the knowing how to fight by looking at peoples feet by fighting Kakashi. They've had what like 100 contests...I'm pretty sure when Gai picks they aren't something stupid like rock, paper, scissors like the only thing we've seen them do also. Why would he know anything about what the sharingan can do without fighting it.

Just because Kakashi is skilled in ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu doesn't make it more likely he'd win. As for Primary Lotus, Lee trained his body for it. Neji can't do it but Neji always beats Lee. Gai has also trained his body to withstand it. Heck Lee can't really even withstand the toll it takes on his body. What makes you think Kakashi who hasn't done anything that rivals the strain it is said to put on the body will be able to do it effectively if at all?

Um Sasuke being faster than Naruto or Sakura can even see when they meet him again after a few years means yea...Sasuke is a lot faster than Naruto. I hate Sasuke so no I'm not saying Sasuke is faster because I think he's cooler because I don't. He's just proven it. Not to mention he's always been faster. Sure he's more skilled in taijutsu which was obvious in their fight on the statues but he wasn't so much faster without the seal than normal Naruto then like he is now.

Sasuke is implied to have crazy speed, Deidara even says he cant fight him head on because he is to fast. He moves instantly behind Naruto when they meet again and if you have played Narutimate Accel 2 he has some fast as fuk speed moves in it. Sasuke is currently leagues above practicaly every one in speed.

Not Gai son. Deidara is not a speed demon, and Naruto sure as hell isn't one. And videogames are not canon.

Kakashi never had the Mangekyou Sharingan when he first fought Itachi. We do know he didn't have the Mangekyou Sharingan before the time skip so no he wouldn't have has a battle against Itachi with them when they first fought.

When was it ever stated he teleported to Naruto or against Deidara? Not to mention Yamato saw him move and says he's fast while Sakura didn't see him move at all. The only sharingan ability Sasuke used was genjutsu on Manda. Not to mention Sasuke is stronger than Kakashi so who is to say Kakashi could even genjutsu Manda.

why dont you go back and watch episode 13 (i think thats it) of shippuuden. watch when kakashi busts out his sharingan and says "itachi, how bad has ur eyesight become" (or something like that). look at itachi 's face. listen to his reaction. and then tell me he wasnt scared. he was fealing uneasy as soon as he realized kakashi knew way more about MS than he could have learned from just having seen it. kakashi had MS in that fight with itachi but chose not to use it because he knows that consequences. if kakashi avoided using MS agaist itachi, who knows how long he's had it and just avoided using it. the way kakashi spoke to itachi about MS sure made it seem like he had been familiar with MS for a while.

Actually, if there's no time limit, I think Gai would win.

Gai knows Kakashi huge weakness, endurance, all he has to do is keep Kakashi on his toes for awhile, while keeping the sharingan out, then when he's tired attack with the gates.

I only just thought of that. Since Gai is quite abit faster than Kakashi anyway (or so i assume what with all that mad training), keeping distance shouldn't be a problem.

the reason why i think kakashi has ahd MS for a long time is the way he talked about it and the fact that he chose not to use it even when he was fighting itachi. he didnt use it when he fought the other akatsuki either. if he didnt use it against those extremely dangerous ninja, why would we have seen him use it before? who have we seen him fight that would be more powerful? i cant say for sure that he's had it a long time, but it would make sense if u really have to kill ur closest friend for it. kakashi said all the ppl that were close to him died a long time ago.

of course nothing says he improved his aim. but nothing said he didnt. im just saying that it is possible because we dont know.

kakashi didnt even like obito tho. prolly didnt even consider him a friend until after he thought he died. who knows how close he and rin were. no one knows anything about his friends or family but that his dad died when he was young. unless itachi doesnt know what he's talking about, killing ur friend is what u have to do to obtain MS. i dont know why ppl assume that kakashi didnt kill his friend just because they like him. i mean i like him too, but i dont have any way of knowing if he killed his friend. this is why naruto is such a great story. every revelation causes questions. most of what we've been talking about here is evidence that supports theories about who has what abilities and to what degree. there's no proof that kakashi can kill gai. i can just say that theres a good probability that he would based on the evidence.

Well Kakashi does know over what 1000 jutsu so it's hard not for him to have a new jutsu. Besides Mangekyou Sharingan he mostly uses the same jutsu. Earth Style to go underground, summoning his dogs, or Chidori anyway.

The sharingan's precognitive abilities are only useful if you're body is fast enough to react to what it sees. Even if he sees what he is going to do, his body won't be fast enough to react in time.

Hm... can't kakashi also open gates. We know he can at least open one and most likely more.

Gai is faster than kakashi and though kakashi may be able to see him he isnt fast enough to be able to counter Gai's attacks as effectively as he would be able to against any other regular speed ninja.

Example Sasuke vs lee
although sasuke saw what lee was doing his body wasnt fast enough to do anything about it.

kakashi can only open up the first gte and due to kakashi's injury prone body i dont think that this is a wise idea. Plus kakashi has low chakra reserves.

This point is what makes the difference in this thread. Gai isn't called a Taijutsu master because he can't open the gates. Opening that many gates should not be usual for most people. That should be a taijutsu thing, for the most part. In other words, you should have to work at being a taijutsu master before you reach someone of Gai's level...the exception is Naruto. It would take Naruto 2 weeks, tops. lol

For the people saying Kakashi could just copy Gai's movements that doesn't mean he can react fast enough to do anything. Also we've seen Kakashi open up at least the first chakra gate in episode 55 which leads me to believe that since he's capable of using raikiri (more advanced form of chidori which Sasuke had to copy Lee using the gates to do) that he's able to open more gates as well (though I'm sure nowhere near as many as Gai since Gai specializes in taijutsu as we all know. He has been seen to open the 6 gate when fightning Kisame's clone.) Kakashi is also known as the "Copy Ninja" which also leads me to believe that in all his years of having the Sharingan and fighting high level opponents that he has a vast variety of jutsu at his disposal. This fight could go either way. I think Gai would win though mostly because Kakashi doesn't enough stamina as Gai and since he would be forced to use his Sharingan against Gai because of Gai's sheer speed that would wear him out even more. Kakashi's only hope against a taijutsu master like Gai would be to finish the fight quickly. If Kakashi could kill him before he's even able to open up any gates that might overwhelm him he could win. Kakashi is no slouch in taijutsu either (though nowhere near as good as Gai) but if he were to combine ninjutsu with taijutsu his chances would increase. If he used a shadow clone to distract Gai he could summon his dogs to further distract him and then he could use Head Hunter jutsu and then once Gai's in that kakashi can just Raikiri his face lol. Even if Head hunter did miss he could still have his dogs and then kill him using raikiri anyway. Like I said though, the fight could go either way

Also, the noobs saying Kakshi could instantly copy Gai's gates are wrong and are just saying that out of their own noobish, biased opinions. Gai has been doing taijutsu all his life. Kakashi would need to train in order to reach Gai's level of taijutsu. Furthermore, we dont know how many gates Gai can open. As far as we know it was hard for him to reach the 6th gate so we dont know if he can reach the 7th or 8th. And no noobs, Kakashi would not pwn Gai. Gai and Kakashi pretty much cancel each other out mainly because of Gai's superior speed and Kakashi's jutsu (including Sharingan). I would quote some of these noobs but that would be a lot of quotes and would be unnecessary since they're all pretty much saying the same thing. Also, Gai's games saying that Kakashi and Gai are even probably aren't based off of full out fights. If anything it was sparring. Kisame's clone was probably going all out but the jutsu if anything were only slightly weaker due to a higher chakra restriction (though that may not be the case. The Kisame clone may have just been wasting chakra with the jutsu despite the fact that it only had 30% of the real Kisame's chakra. So if he waqsn't putting a restriction on how much chakra he chose to use then that was Kisame's actual power which also means Gai is capable of beating the actual Kisame. Kisame also has as much chakra as Naruto so I dont think with his clone having 30% of all his chakra the jutsu were really draining hardly anything even with using hiw water prision jutsu on Lee, Tenten, and Neji).
