You asked for a History forum and your first thread is "a chat"? erm

Fatal Smoke
It's a social thread. Every Forum has or needs one.

Do we really need a history social thread? It's not as if history is constantly changing.

In the words of Storm & Cato...

Ceterum censeo Social Threads esse delendam

Well, I at least like social threads...

I'm glad to see this forum go up, Calvin. I hope it lasts.

Fatal Smoke
With 200 posts a day, why wouldn't it?

Janus Marius
The drop down menu works! Woot!

Jabba the Hutt

I'd hope not, I think Janus Marius would be a more fitting mod, he seems to have a very large knowledge when it comes to history.

I have some gaps here and there, but I'm two years into college, going to become a high school-college level history professor. However, with my infamous history here at KMC, I'd be very surprised if I was asked to mod here.

Yes, you did. I was very impressed; you didn't strike me as a history buff. However, if you were to become a mod, you'd have to really go about this place a different way. Mods don't exactly get the luxury of doing things like unleashing on Bloigen, even if he was insulting the forum. You have to keep your nose clean once you've got responsibility. But I can't fault you for your knowledge so far. (Except Stalin was a dictator... ha!)

Well, I was thinking totalitarian, which he wasn't. He was a commie, not a..err...Tottie? Bloigen likes to troll though, and say dumb things but I guess you're right.

Meh, there will always be detractors. Just ignore them and they'll go away.

And while the Soviet Union was initially a Communist regime, during Stalin's reign it was totalitarian.

Im going to come to this part of the Forum JUST so I can learn some history. It'd really depressing how lame my school is..I won't be learning US-World hisotry till m ySenior year...I guess I'll have to go searching through Wikpedia...

Janus Marius
That's the best way to do it. Just make thread, and ask questions. And the rest of us can pool in some knowledge. Forum in the purest sense.

Numan2.0
heh, thats how i learned more about starwars really. I never played KOTR(Still havnt) and before I joined KMC I didn't know the Totj universe even existed. I just watched the debates and now I know quite alot actually...

Fatal Smoke
*cough* 500TH POST *cough*

Janus Marius
500, huh? That's not bad actually. There's been some pretty good turnout here.

general-pain
Janus, are there any books on Erwin Rommel that you would recommend?

Fatal Smoke
I suggest online resources, or an encyclopedia of war.

Knight's Cross. It's a large grey book, entirely on him and his life, etc. You can find it at any reputable book store.
