how come obi-wan said nothing of his former master to luke and how come he could talk to him but never did in the movies

Because Lucas wrote himself some continuity errors. Simple as that.

This really should have gone in the Original Trilogy forum though.

Qui gon was thought up after the OT.

Obi and Luke had only so much quality time to spend together.

Had he mentioned Qui Gon, luke would have asked about his master, and then Dooku would have been mentioned and his master Yoda, and after Yoda They would have talked about the war, Republic, trade federation, politics, Padme, Anakin, Jarjar, R2, Grievous, Palpatine.... And they would be still chatting about it.

Its a movie, its not an important point. The subject matter of conversation between Obi and luke has always and should be about luke's father. Thats all Luke really wants to know.

What the F does Luke care about qui gon. Do you want to learn all about someone that knew your father for a couple of days.

Owen and Beru don't even know Qui gon.

Its a movie move on.

and no, its not a continuity error

This whole website is about discussing movies, a simple question that needed a simple answer

And a truly obvious answer at that.

During the filming of Return of the Jedi there must be some footage with Luke and Yoda never shown...that could be a very valuable link to add with some work this story Yoda telling Luke the origin of his father.
