I was wondering what time people think POTC would be set around? The golden age of piracy was around 1680 - 1730.
I'm quite puzzled. I know that Port Royale was notorious and filthy BEFORE a hurricane hit in 1692.
So I'm guessing this is perhaps a long time after that, since the Port Royale we see in the movie is very ordered and organized, and probably a rebuilt one, from after the hurricane.
I've come to the conclusion that POTC is possibly set in the early 1700's. Perhaps 1700 - 1720. Something around there.
Keira Knightley quoted in an interview about her character that Elizabeth is "...a modern-day girl stuck in an 18th-century world".
And we all know 18th century = 1700's. Any other opinions?
P.S - I don't want mindless kids posting here with pointless crap. Let's make this a serious discussion, please. And use correct grammar, for christ's sake.
