The KMC Authority has been disbanded.

But we are not gone. And we have gotten stronger.

Introducing: The KMC Green Lantern Corps!

Purpose: With many groups devolving into nothing but glorified chat rooms, we wanted to create a group with a larger purpose. As the KMC GL Corps, we will be heralds of intelligent debating, and we shun any form of unnecessary bashing, flaming, spamming, or similar practices. By simply being cool members, we act as sort of “GLs” for the comic forums. Now, mind you, this doesn’t mean we can’t kick ass (because we can) nor that we always have to be perfect gentlemen. But rather than an opportunity for being a group and for socializing (which it can be too) this is more of a common banner under which we can do what we normally do anyway, which is to be sweet members.

Signature: This is a signature I whipped up for us. I might get around to making more eventually, but we can all use this sig as our “calling card” for now. You can wear it whenever you want…I’ll probably wear mine every now and then. And DC can feel free to add anything he wants too, since he’s as accomplished as I am at sig-making.

Specific Lantern Identities: We don’t have to “represent” a character if we don’t want. But Kahn has already called Kilowog, and I have Alan reserved. If you want to be a specific one, feel free, but it’s not a requirement. I’d also recommend The Guardians if just being a Lantern isn’t enough.

To end our announcement, I'd like to paraphrase Kyle Rayner. In the Rann-Thanagar War, he was asked which side he was on. He responded "I'm on the universe's side." We're not against the other teams, and neither quite with them. Rather, we're on the side of the comic forums, and KMC in general.

I have only recently realized that Mogo is the most badass GL ever. I mean, a living planet with eons of experience and ability to form it's surface to create anything he wishes would be formidable on its own, but give it the Green Lantern power? Damn. No wonder he is the most feared of them all.

He was created by Alan Moore, though. That explains his amazing badassery.

I don't think there is GL movie in production...

There's talk of it and it MIGHT be in pre-production but Comic Book Movie is REALLY unreliable! Accordig to it, DD2 was out last year!

And on an unrelated note, we're making it a policy that it's possible to be in the Corps and on another team. It's not necessaily encouraged, but it's no problem if we see a particular sweet member we might want or something.

Take the JLA (in the comics). Kyle/Hal/John/etc. have been on the team, but they're in the Corps as well. We're not here to bring down the other teams, but to be a support and a guide.

Read the first post of the thread. It's by private invite only. No disrespect intended, but we just have to keep our numbers low enough to be manageable....too many groups become bogged down by the weight of their membership and have no idea who's in them. And we would have about 6 new members already from the requests I've gotten, so you can see the problem.

Still a bit awkward how the green on the right just ends, but you're definitely improving. It's a notch above the Superman one.

If anyone wants one that's on the Corps, don't hesitate to ask myself or DC...I realize I'm speaking for DC and he might say no, but chances are he'd do it. And I'd be more than happy as well.

finally, someone's alive out there. i've been posting to no one for an hour.

To our members - An idea to start mulling around:

I'm thinking about having a tournament for the vs. forum, and with the advances we've made in the last few tourneys we could run it quite well. This wouldn't be for at least a few weeks, and probbaly closer to the middle of summer.

And I want the Corps to host the tourney.

Basically this would mean a few things:
1. We all take some responsibility for it....although I could take the main overseeing of the project.
2. I'd like to do a judge-system similar to the last tourney. Corps members would be judges (2 or 4 for each match) and the popular vote would count as a tie-break.
3. We wouldn't be able to be in the tourney ourselves. If you aboslutely wanted to, you'd have to relinquish your judging rights. But it could probably be possible. But we wouldn't be able to have more than a person or 2 in it or we'd have too few judges (since I'd like to rotate so we don't have to judge every week).

+'s:
1. I envision a build-up that would include trying to get the other teams more involved in the process, and possibly each having a representative.
2. We'd have the Corps' name attached to everything, which would = noteriety and respect.
3. It fits perfectly into the idea that we're the overseers of the forums.

-'s:
1. A bit extra work for all of us (though like I said, I'd shoulder the brunt of it). And we'd work it into everyone's ability to post, so don't worry if you're not on every day or something.
2. We can't be in it (well, we could, but it would make things a bit tougher...we might be able to have a representative as well and bring in some guest judges for their matches or something...but it would complcate matters a bit).

Please don't flood with responses about this if you're not a Corps member. I'd like to hear what they have to say before we think about this actually happening.

hmm, i like your idea, but i wonder -- by not having any of our guys able to partcipate (without some complications . . .) are we appearing a bit arrogant? wouldn't others WANT some of us in it since some of us are reasonably able debaters?

i was wondering about a group v group event as well, though. i've always liked the idea of each group getting a couple individuals who would battle together. say it was us v . . . whoever would be unluck enough to be on the other side! scoob and i might be a team -- he could be ironman and i'd be thor. we'd face another pair from the same team (say 2 people from magik) and their characters of choice. it would show not only who the best debaters are, but also the best communicators and who worked best as a team. each team could put in as many 'teams' as they wanted and each team would also assign a judge or 2. i think that would be VERY cool and glory would got to the individuals but also to the teams!

i was wondering about a group v group event as well, though. i've always liked the idea of each group getting a couple individuals who would battle together. say it was us v . . . whoever would be unluck enough to be on the other side! scoob and i might be a team -- he could be ironman and i'd be thor. we'd face another pair from the same team (say 2 people from magik) and their characters of choice. it would show not only who the best debaters are, but also the best communicators and who worked best as a team. each team could put in as many 'teams' as they wanted and each team would also assign a judge or 2. i think that would be VERY cool and glory would got to the individuals but also to the teams!

I like some of the ideas in there. The only problem with that is that it's much more nebulus in terms of structure. Do we make brackets? Or just have a series of 1-v-1 (or 2v2) matches where the winner doesn't move on to anything else?

And smaller battles like that end up a bit too close to vs. thread that we already have. In a format like that, we'd probably at least need each person to represent 2 characters.

...but this is all up in the air at this point. Thanks for the input though.

P.S. Try the blur tool around the green line, unless your program doesn't have it (gimp, right?)

just my two cents: I like Digi's idea, its less of a hassle, and you have a commitee of people to look after it rather than just one or two people. (Which is a buttload of work, especially with all the pms I sent asking questions. For that alone I respect Dizzle lots!) You may continue with your regular programming.

I don't like the idea of getting every group in the forum in on the tourney. I do like Digi's idea. I'd be up for judging so long as I get some notice about which matches I'd be working on.

The only thing I'd be worried about in having each group enter a team is that some individuals who want to enter the tourney might get left out (perhaps we could let each group enter one "official" team but let other members enter independently if they wish). Although I do think the two-vs-two concept could be interesting to watch.

Would there be any limitation on the types or level of characters that would be allowed to be picked?

Thanks for the tourney input guys. It's still weeks away, so it's nothing pressing.

In general, the idea of havin teams pick representatives probably isn't good. If they want, they can. But at the same time, others might get left out, and to fill out a full bracket we'd need people that aren't on teams as well. So it wouldn't strictly be a team thing.

Other than that, it seems like we wouldn't mind having it happen. I'll hash out some of the details that I think would be most efficient and have a full plan in about a week.

...and I'll get started on your sig sometime soon Val.

when i said teams i didn't mean ONLY teams. pairs of individuals would be more than welcome of course. anyway, i was trying to figure out a way to make the tourny different from the other ones that have been held is all.

hmm, and maybe I'LL do a sig for him too and we'll see which one he pix . . .
