If YOU HAVE TO PICK a movie......Which movie would you rather see and why? (ONE OR THE OTHER)

HOSTEL

or

Brokeback Mountain?

?

DiamondBullets
HOSTEL (That was a no-brainer!)

Eis
Brokeback Mountain because I already saw Hostel, but if I hadn't then I would go for Hostel.

Either way, wrong forum.

NineCoronas
Hostel.

dave_kodak
Hostel, the first half of that movie was pritty much a soft porn, and that makes it good. and the small bit of gore in it was awesome.

Bardock42
Brokeback Mountain...I have seen Hostel already. If I hadn't...I don't know...both has it's advantages.

Evil Dead
Brokeback Mountain. I've seen both movies already.......and Brokeback is far superior.

thorncrawler
hostel seem to me a film i'd rater watch

Swanky-Tuna
I'd be Hostel because I know little about both movies but what I know of Brokeback Mountain makes it sound like a love story.

Lord Urizen
Diamond Bullets...that only PROVES how sadist and hateful you are, your post has no weight with me.

The rest of you...

So you would rather see a movie about people torturing other people than a love story ?

That sure as hell says a lot....thanks for taking this test.

Wow... what a idiotic statement...

YOU do realize of course that not everyone is into romance flics? Some of us (actually a lot) like Action and Horror... dude don't go assuming that everyone is violent just because they prefer to see a horror movie as opposed to two guys making out. roll eyes (sarcastic)

No no no...you proved my point already.

No need to debate here.

Lord Urizen
And Hostel is action and horror?

Seems more like a Sadist's fantasy movie to me....

So, the absolute choice comes down to watching two men make out, or people getting chopped upno expression And the decision makes us all heartless if we pick Hostel, or gay if we pick Brokeback.

Wtf drugs are you on?

Lord Urizen
MY question was not geared for everyone.

I wanted to know primarily what Christian Conservatives would choose.....

The rest of you i dont care about in this case, but thanks for answering.

Drugs...no drugs..i am against that 2.

I wanted to expose the hypocrisy of a conservative Christian by having them answer which movie they would rather see, one of unbarable violence and sadistic torture or a love story about two gay men.

The rest of you dont have the same mind set as a conservative Christian claims to, so your opinions dont help me out.

ultamately i wanted to ask them, which is the greater sin? Homosexuality or Torturing someone physically?

And why one over the other?

Thats all buddy

Lord Urizen
And its just sad as hell, that ultamately you get turned on to watch someone getting tortured and then get turned off by a story about two men in love.

That's the bottom line.

Mišt
a) That wasnt stated in the opening post, nor the thread title
b)The title says Bias Test....wtf for?
c) How do you know who is a Christian Conservative here?

Evil Dead
I'm a Christian conservative.

Lord Urizen
Actually....u know what? You guys are right.

I asked the WRONG question to the wrong people.

Now that I think about it, i have misjudged you guys based on your personal taste in movies, and that is ultamately rediculous.

It makes me no better than people who misjudge gay people, so for that I apologize.

Please allow me to re write the question:

Why is it that the SAME group of Conservatives who protest against Brokeback Mountain NOT protest against Hostel ?

I have seen both movies:

Brokeback Mountain: Yes has the obvious issue of homosexuality, but it is NOT the gay orgy that people are accusing it of being. More than just a love story, also a depiction of the hardships a minority has to face in a narrow minded society. I think it was pretty good, not the best movie i ever saw, but pretty good. It was very heartbreaking.

Hostel- pretty scary movie, but more gross than scary. I left the theater feeling more anger than fear. Anger at the fact that people can take such pleasure in seeing someone get methodically tortured. In my opinion, Hostel is ultamately a Sadistic Fantasy. It is a movie about TORTURE for the SAKE OF TORTURE...u cant deny that.

So its an issue of Homosexuality VS Senseless Torture....which is actually the bigger issue on a global scale ?

Why would Conservatives ATTACK Brokeback Mountain without even watching it, but be perfectly fine with a movie like Hostel ?

This makes NO SENSE to me...can someone explain please ?

See that was better, but if you're asking the question at a particular group, ie christian conservatives, wouldnt it be better in the religion forum?

Why did Ang Lee select two straight actors, instead of say.....Nathan Lane and Richard Simmons--2 guys to whom the roles would come perfectly natural and they wouldn't be acting at all.

And I'm sure that both Lane and Simmons have plenty of experience wearing chaps.

Why did Peter Jackson choose Sir Ian McKellan to play Gandalf? He's not a wizard...

Oh right. So, they're called 'actors' because they act. Seems to make sense. Unlike your post, DB.

Alpha Centauri
ANYONE who think Hostel is anything more than an excuse to peddle one man's overhyped vision of gore and sex, hasn't seen the movie, or has and is stupid.

Hostel double bluffed itself. You were supposed to feel sorry for the guys getting tortured, but in the beginning they were misogynistic idiots who you would probably find yourself disliking anyway. Then at the end, any sympathy you have for the poor tourists is removed when one of them decides to go back for revenge rather than getting the f*ck out of the country.

It's thoughtless. I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, people I know who have say that it's good, but not because it's positive toward homosexuality, just because it's a good movie. I think Capt already mentioned that he felt it put across a message that the gay community should be treated differently, which is as bad really.

I don't like romantic movies for reasons that are probably too off-topic to go into here, though if it's given the nod, I shall.

I swear you are such a homophobe. laughing out loud You know most homophobes are just afraid of their true sexuality.

Anyways, I choose Hostel and it's not bias because of Brokeback being about homosexuals, it's because Brokeback is not the genre I like. Drama and romance movies in general bore me. I'd rather have a suspense movie.

Alpha Centauri
Bullets, hypothetical situation for you:

You're dying from a wound, right? You can be saved, but the only doctors available are gay men.

What do you do?

I know you are homophobic and not all there in the ol' cranial chamber, but surely there's just one answer here.

-AC

Jonathan Mark
I'm a Christian and without a doubt Hostel is worse is you're pinning this on morality.

Personally I couldn't give a shit about Brokeback... wow two gay guys cheating their wives... who cares?

I would wanna live, so yes I would allow him to save me. But if I learn that he fondled my balls while I was anesthetized--I'll whoop his ass!

I know I'm homophobic and insane, but I still value my life. And if the only available doc is a pillow-biter, then I don't have much of a choice, do I?

I've just been staring at that website for the last few minutes. I think it's trying to tell me something, althought I'm not sure, so I'll get back to you later...

dave_kodak
lol i dont even know what to say to that other then hahahahaha

T.M
I haven't seen either but I would choose Brokeback Mountain because Hostel looks ridiculous.

Lord Urizen
HERE WE GO....now this debate is going somewhere.

Diamond Bullets....ur a joke lol im starting to get LESS and LESS offended by what you say and just find it all hilarious. You are stereotypical homophobe, ur probly 15 yrs old or sumtn

I saw Hostel, and honestly i was LESS SCARED and more GROSSED OUT......that movie was disgusting....its a SADIST FANTASY...its nothing more.......

I'm sure every serial killer paid thier ticket to see this movie.

Whether you like romance movies or horror movies, I'm glad you gave your opinions, but as of now its irrelevant.

I want to change this post, bcuz i changed the question.....

Why do the same group of Conservatives who protest against BrokeBack not protest against Hostel?

It doesn't make sense to me, and so far no one has helped me figure this out.

Maybe ur right...maybe i should close down this thread, and re write it on the Religion Forum.....

and aboiut that website...i had no idea that other people felt the way i do about this.

NineCoronas
Homophobic... I never understand... people aren't afraid of gays, just don't like them. no expression

Stereotyping... it's funny that people use a double-standard here. All people that are homophobes are secretly gay themselves? roll eyes (sarcastic)
