Is this any good, would you recommend this to anyone for a desire to learn about the x-men?

Why buy something like that? Just go to Wikipedia and read up on all the characters and everything.

Well wiki just gives you the info, but i want to learn the story, and see how the characters devlop.

I was checking it out on Amazon.com and the reviewers have so far given it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. They mentioned that the biggest pro is of course getting a chance to read nearly 500 comics for only $40.00. The biggest con though is that the issues are all Uncanny X-men, so any crossovers that went into other x-men comics are not available, leaving some gaps in the stories every now and then. I plan on getting this and the Spiderman one pretty soon.

Yeah i heard age of apocalypse isn't included, isn't that a really important storyline to read in order to get future stories?
