I just don't know. It is obvious that the movie would make money. The first movie (FOTR) has already tripled the investment. We just want to throw a log on the fire for them to get it done...

I'd only want it done if Ian Holm's going to star.. and I do NOT - I repeat, DO NOT - want Lucas anywhere NEAR the director's chair. The guy can create, not direct. He can barely deter himself from making his own movies a mockery, man..

But what the hell, I signed anyway. I don't think Lucas will direct it, plus if they DO decide to put it into production, they probably will cast Ian Holm. Well, hopefully.

I am not sure I would want Lucas to do anything but the effects.

It's my understanding Spielberg turned down the LOTR project becuase he didn't think he could do it.....I 'm sure he wouldn't feel that way about the Hobbit!

I'm sure that Lucas doesen't those effects by himself, but with his team. And the lotr effect were pretty good. I wouldn't want any better in the hobbit.

the book sucked anyway......i expect better from the movie. If made, ofcourse.

the book did not suck, and thats the opinion of 90% of those who have read it. it IS however directed most at children though.

We can all coment on other peoples taste,i have taste u have taste,he has taste,she has taste. see it,s easy.But as said the hobbit was for young children and leads u into the LOTR and hopefully onto the silmarillion which strangely leads u into the begining of middle earth ( a bit like star wars start in the middle move forward to the end then go to the start )

WHEN the film is made the target age group has to be considered.Also the hobbit was a fight against evil (smaug) but LOTR is a rejection of evil (THE RING) and a much more sutle work aimed at a more adult age group. but lets get the film made....... the tablets semm to be taking effect now! DARK MEN ON HORSES ARE ONLY AFTER UR RING RUN!

hmmm......they will probably mess up the story as they did at LOTR:FOTR.I'd like to see it on screens but only if they'll make it good.

i don't think LOTR:FOTR was messed up. They just cut a little out of the story. The movie as it is it's still long enough.

It has lot's of bugs.And a lot of cutting......

LOTR:FOTR it's 4th.

so, that doesnt do anything to the quality of the movie

the quality was good,but the director pissed me off.He removed parts that were super.
And if u're a good director u usualy remove any trucks in the view

pff, all films has those sorts of errors, plus I've watched FOTR 4 times and havent seen the truck, so its really hard to see.

I have the bootleg version at home,and I cannot find it.I wanted to see those bugs with my eyes.I dunno,when I saw the movie I haven't remark that truck.
I think I'll take the VHS from a friend and convince myself.

harry potter wasn't realy that bad. More childish ofcourse and a bit worse CGIs. but considering that we shouldn't compare him with LOTR it's not bad.

well, the hobbit is not xactly a master piece. It's tolkien's first book, i don't Xpect it to be that good. Besides, i won't dislike harry potter even though i like it just because it's good for the soul. And i don't see how hating something is good for the soul

of course not.But if you like the movie U'll be interested in reading the book

mostly the other way around.

My thinking isthat I don't want people seeing that crappy cartoon and thinking that is all there is to "The Hobbit". If a good movie is made then people may be more inclined to read the book. I can't help but wonder how many people choose not to read the book after seeing that cartoon.....

The cartoon was the first attempt at the LOTR and was quite good but(theres always a but) it stopped short and was never finished. It missed out tom bomidilo as in the film(there is no excuse for that).We want tom..............

I believe it was the cartoon of the Hobbit that was being referred to, which was dire indeed. The LOTR cartoon film was very good; a shame the main brain behind it died before he did the rest.

But it missed out Tom Bombadil because the makers had brains. NO TOM!

i find it hard to belive that the REAL sword in the movie would be on sale. If it would, i don't think it would stay on the market for 2 days......fans are there hunting these stuff

There are currently two replicas of Sting on the market. One comes with a sheath and a better plaque, the other with no sheath and a lesser plaque.

Also there are miniature version of all the hobbit swords.

The original Sting from the movie is in a museum in New Zealand...or will be when constructed.

The are also replicas of Narsil, Orcrist, Glamdring, and the WitchKings sword on the market.....as well as miniature version of them all.

It is large, heavy, beautiful, and limited to 1000 pieces worldwide. It is worth every penny to add it to my collection. I just love the idea of being one of only a thousand to own Tolkien stuff. One of My Silmarillion copies is limited to 500 made, signed by Ted Nasmith and Christopher Tolkien....it is beautiful too!!!

P.S. - I do expect the value of the Balrog to rise in years to come. My Tudor Mint Hobbit collection is now worth at least $6000 and maybe as much as $9000

I don't think tolkien and his stories about middle earth are about collecting things, and well I think it's kinda crashy to spend 300$ on a statue, tho I should shut up about spendin' money, I think my lego collection is worth more then 9000$ already and I didn't pay anything of it

the colectibles are a beautiful part of a fan's universe. if one considers he should pay for one thing and this thing makes him happy, that's very good. I like things that are limited in number too.....don't think i have anything though. lego's are kewl but they're way too expensive for what they worth
