I'm loving the japanese anime-movies more and more at the moment, IMO some of the greatest films are anime ones.
anyone heard of great anime movies like Akira, Ghost in the Shell,
Ah! My Goddess, Bubblegum Crisis, Blood: The Last Vampire, You're under Arrest! or Bastard!, or TV-series like Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon?
I guess not, but I felt the need to express my love for Anime.

Never really seen an Anime movie.

What would you recommend for a first viewing?

ghost in the shell. it's got a less complicated story than some of the others and was a success back in 95 so its easy to get. actually I had to order it from the UK, but that's because we have crappy selection here in norway.

ninja scroll and fist of the north star are awesome.

Dragonball Z The Movie Box Set (VHS, Englsih Dubbed) (World's Strongest, Tree of Might, and Dead Zone)

I know that they still sell the box set on DVD, but my whole collection is on VHS...

BLood the last Vampire is great, i'm not that into anime( my brothers are seriously into them).
we have bout 3-4 anime expositions here in trinidad a year......so i get some degree of exposure.
I dont know if this counts as anime but Princess Monanoke was really good too.

And then there is what started of the rebirth of anime veiwing here..........Samurai X........original anime movies( OAVs)........get the OAVs, the stuff on tv is nothing compared to these

I dont know, I used to like anime alot. But they are like chinese kung fu flicks; if you watch too many they all start looking the same.

spikey hair, loner attitudes, emotionless faces, huge explosions, bullet dodging etc. sometimes they dont even have a good reason for fighting.. 'oh you looked at me' *starts fighting* I think the anime's I did enjoy were

Ninja Scroll (ew not the other 2 the first one)

YuuYuu Hakusho : poltergeist report

Ranma 1/2

Db / Dbz (didnt bother with gt cuz it got stupid)

all of hayao miyazaki stuff

note : anime's based on video games suck (except fatal fury) i.e. tekken , virtua fighter , and somewhat street fighter 1st one sucked, the SFalpha movie was ok and the V series is a money excuse.

Try Gundam Wing SaTsuJiN! It's not useless fighting at all! Or Gundam Seed, or Cowboy Bebop...

I suggest Revolutinery Girl Utena....good shoujo..

na, i forgot about that one tho, that was another one of my favs. movie 13 was the one w/ the story behind how trunks got his sword and the guy tabion and his flute.

those episodes were alot better in japanese. i stopped watching the english version along time ago, i just peek in every now and then.

And yes....the japanese versions of DBGT were better...the DVD's come with both versions though...^.^

go to block buster and go to the moive part and look for anime dvds read the backs and find what you think you mit like . k

block buster and other movie stores have crap for anime selections....

The only thing is that they're expensive there...

Best place in America is Souncoast.I swear over half of their store is anime AND MANGA dedicated.They have all the merch that America allows,as well as almost everything American released.

Me?I stick to conventions.You get to a private dealer(as in NON COMMERCIAL)And you can get anime DVDs for as low as 5$.

But then you have to find anime conventions that are close to you....

i always wanted to go to one, but i nvr kno where any are or i find out to late.

You can also go to discountanime.com..but..i don't buy stuff off of the internet...
