Comet Man sees Superman facing them, and teleports out of fear--all the way to the other side of the universe.

Leaving Cannonball to be chewed up and spit out by Supes.

Originally Cannonball's forcefield was supposed to be invincible and extend all around him, Thats part of how he defeated gladiator. THAT cannonball would stand a small chance against superman. Recent Cannonball gets knocked out by a lazer cannon. THAT Cannonball has his forcefield destroyed, and his boy mangled by one punch from supes.

Superman is seen crying in the corner after the third panel "I tried to hold back, I swear, I really did."
