Anyone else notice how unnatural the weather is getting? I mean, there are the big things obviously, such as the out-of-season floods, super-hurricanes and earthquakes, but what about the stuff that just doesn't get advertised at all.

Well, around here, we had a tornado, for the first time in a century I think. It touched down not to far (I live in Western Washington, by the way) from where I live - it was so dark and hail + rain was battering everything. It came and went in like... ten minutes. Anyone else have anything like this?

Actually according to climatologists the "strange weather" we are seeing is actually normal. Prior to ten thousand years ago the earths weather was very chaotic but then it calmed down giving rise to modern agriculture. What we are seeing now is how the earths weather is normally. Bad for humanity but hey, that's just the way it is.

it's not that hot yet here where I live, but the humidity is terrible it would be like 80 here and the humidity would be over 60% and it would feel like it is 90 instead. in a house with no air conditioning running and only box fans are used you can sweat all night just staying motionless.

Yup, everything is cyclic. Things come and go...come and go...

Humans are not that influential on the Earth as much as they'd like to think. It's only natural that things come and go. It's silly to try and stop or force things into 'the way it should be'.

It snowed here a little bit on the Fourth of July. Other than that, nothing strange at all.

best thing to do is pretend its not happening and prevent/prepare for nothing. the planet is just doing this for attention, and if we ignore it, it will eventually get bored and stop.

We are definately having some strange weather this morning. It's July 7th and only 74 degrees with low humidity - with a high of only 84 expected for the day!

I'm freaking out, and everybody else is as well. I might actually get to go to the mailbox today without having to change my shirt!

Lana
I live in Chicago, which always has strange weather, so I don't think anything short of a hurricane hitting the city will strike me as being odd.

JaehSkywalker
i think its strange that here in phils. we're not getting a storm that suspends classes this month of june/july....

and there was a hailstorm at 'baguio' which Rarely happens....

i don't really think its that odd. but if it starts having very sunny days during august, i'd start to worry...

*agrees* maybe the end of the world is near...>>*in a very spooky voice*<<

The Hurricanes are expected as part of a natural 30yr cycle...and don't forget the world is coming out of a minor ice age.

silver_tears
I agree that it's been rather strange these last few years for me actually.

Winter's lasting longer, starting later, summer has these weird shifts where it's 40 degrees one day and then drops to 20 and freezing the next, it's odd.

Alpha Centauri
Global warming may be serious, it may not. I'm no so pretentious as to believe that I can play a part in stopping it happening if it is true, and if it isn't...self-explanatory. I'm living life and anything serious won't happen in my lifetime, and being that I don't want children ever, I have nothing to fear.

However, I love the human arrogance of "Oh shit, how is the Earth going to cope! Oh no!". As if the Earth hasn't been through shit before we ended up on it. Granted, humans have done things that do damage, but I really think it's all massively out of proportion.

There's been two huge hailstorms hitting Calgary in the past two months, and we've never gotten those kind.

Ironically, both happened while the sun was shining merrily.

The weather here is slightly warmer this season too.

The weather here is slightly warmer this season too. What the f**k? That's insane. We had another hailstorm hit a while back, and the temperature went from 90 degrees to 40 in two hours.

The precipitation was so thick I could barely see the house across the street.

Anyone caught out on the streets, I would not have been surprised if they were clubbed to death slowly if they failed to find cover.

The rain was so thick here in the storm I mentioened earlier that I guess there was two crashes in the town closest to us, and that an already damaged window shattered on our neighbor's car.

There's been sooooooo much lightening in Vegas, I hardly notice it anymore.

Oh please, that's not that bad. roll eyes (sarcastic) Try 101 degrees and 90% humidity.

Anyway, I haven't experienced any odd weather patterns. I do think it's a little too cool for summer, only about 80-90 degrees each day, but that could be because I'm way up north and all ermm

The sun shone today...is that bad?

Hmm might be the startng phase of global warming, might be that there are nukes that are being deployed somewhere in the world(*cough* north korea *cough*) or it might be that it really is the end of the world (cue Final Day adventist cults flocking around in the streets shouting: "REPENT SINNERS!!!"wink either way the earth has made some changes for the better or worse and so far we have coped wth those changes quite good...we humans have been here for almost 5 or so milion years(I might be wrong though)surely we must be getting used to it by now...

oh well, time to cook me breakfast on me top of car...

This July has been really cold up in Nj; I remember a couple of years ago it was like 100 degrees.

Maybe we should look at global yearly trends instead of limited information.

Global warming will cause the US and Europe to get cooler.

lord xyz
I watched this programme last night telling me about water in britain. It was quite interesting and I learnt some things. However I noticed something in the programme which reminds me about other environmentalists.

Half way through, the man said "Britain is losing (I don't know how much he said) per year! It's better than what it was 10 years ago but it's still a problem."

Now, is it just me, or did he say that the UK's water suply is getting better? confused And if it's getting better, why make a programme about how bad it is? Why start marches and blame multi-million companies in the US? Why complain about Global Warming when the hottest year in the US was 1998, the hottest year in California 1999, Hawaii 2000, Japan 2001, Thailand 2002, India 2003, Middle-east 2004, Greece 2005 and Great Britain 2006? Don't you see a pattern? Not only that, but there is hardly any evidence to prove or disprove Global Warming.

If things are inconclusive and getting better, why is everyone complaining?

Global warming will cause the US and Europe to get cooler. really? then why the hell was it so goddamn hot in L.A. not more than a few weeks ago, huh? huh?

*note...be advised that this poster is suffering from mild heat exhaustion from being stuck inside a non-airconditioned apartment. and would have gone to the beach if said poster's car had not died from over heating.

I'm just glad that it's finally cooled off here in Chicago...it didn't get below 95 degrees for like 3 and a half weeks straight. I was so sick during that time (I get heatsick very quickly).

Chicago's bad enough. Hot weather + humidity + constant thunderstorms = sucky.

Basically for the past month, we keep losing power around here because of the heat and the storms.

and we've had close to over a hundred heat-related deaths. some of it due to power outages.
