I was really disappointed since i saw the latest sequel of pirates of the caribbean. Although the slightly overdone gay-ness in jack sparrow could keep me laughing when orlando bloom's acting was yet as always below level, the jokes faint away and his bad acting performance lasts. The fights really made me seasick, just as the cameracrew, i believe. It was so confusing you couldn't see whether the good guys were winning or dancing the polka. The main enemies look like a fish dish i just ordered, but are acceptable. As we are used to the Pirates-franchise, the movies take way too long, making long-winded. Furthermore there was an enormous cliffhanger at the end, which will automatically send you guys back to the theatre next year. A strategic move, i must say, now they'll make even more money.
As a final rating i'll give this movie a 1/2 star.

WOO MICHAEL JACKSON IN YOUR SIG HAHA^^
anyway, I agree this movie ..at the moment seems pretty confusing and bemusing.. but everything you saw is important to what's going to happen in the next which IMO is going to be mind blowing...The middle of the story is always the "disruption" so its going to be pretty hectic and confusing. We want to see it resolved but we gotta wait..thats what pisses alot of people off. It feels incomplete at the moment I agree (the first was more a story of its own so we left more satisfied).
Remember that Star Wars Empire Strikes Back was the middle of the trilogy..people were pretty pissed at how it turned out because it was the middle of the story and left on a similar cliff hanger.., When they saw the last one in the trilogy..they a realised how great the middle one actually was and it is now a firm favorite to many Star Wars fans. With pirates we will see this movie fit in perfectly to the over all trilogy once the next one comes out..I'm almost certain.
The first one was very much a story on its own with a beginning a middle and an end..now though its a trilogy..and we are basically only in the MIDDLE of the overall story..so its not going to be like the first movie anyway..

I was overwhelmed by all the special effects in the movie also the first time I watched it....POTC 2 is a movie you have to watch a second time to really appreicate it...I wasn't sold on it either the first time because I found the fight scenes confusing, I was so busy trying to understand the accents and figure out the plot, etc. I could not concentrate on the overall effect of the movie....but because I love Jack Sparrow so much I decided to go see it a second time - and then BAM I was floored by how great this movie is....the lines and script are even better than the first one....the plot, the symbolism, the irony, the cimentology...This is one of the best movie's ever - and as of right now, it's my number one all time favorite movie......Go watch it again and you will see what we are all talking about..

yeh the middle is really confusing..but it also reflects how the characters are feeling.."confused"

Their priorities are changing and they are in quite a bit of denial..so the movie adds in loads of hints to show whats really going on with the characters and the story..without giving too much away.

who cares if it wasnt perfect. it was a load of fun. it is just meant to be enjoyed, not taken too seriously. i laughed my stomach out, i had a great time. Im sorry you werent able to enjoy it, but honestly, compared to what else is out there these days, its a really well done film.

He is. Acting like that, he can ONLY be gay.

Nope. He is actually homophobic..you see it in this movie where he thinks liz is a man coming onto him....that was the directors way of squashing out that theory..

Johnny Depp has even said Jack's not - the mannerisms he uses to portray Jack are meant to throw people off-guard....Jack is most definitely not gay......

if the enemies look like a fish dish you just ordered, i advise you never to go to that restaurant again. yuck.

This was a freaking GRAND movie! How can you say it's not?

Seeing that you guys are all (hardcore) fans, i think you can't really look at the movie objectively. Sure i had a great time during superman returns, but if you read the reviews you can definitly agree on them. I'd type a review of a magazine i have, but it's in dutch and quite frankly i'm too lazy to translate it. The text is well written, making it harder for me to translate since my english isn't what you call great.
jessigem
are you using a translator on your computer? because your english seems perfect to me.
