The Title of the book is pretty self explanatory. It just came out in July, 2006 and I bought it soon after it came out, I'm about a 1/3 done with it and the author really lays out a fluid and sensible argument of how and why the evangelicals who now are the republican base are abadonning the true principles of their faith.
He also gives the reader a great history of how the current religious right have been shaped and molded by the republican party through relatively simple political tactics...
He continues with a history lesson on the different denominations of the christian faith...talking about catholics, protesents, lutherans, and motly about Baptists and how modern Baptist supporting the republican party are completely ignoring their history and don't represent their Baptist traditions.....
This is a great read and he presents great arguments and this is the type of book that should start discussions across the country about issues that are dividing the country, and he really shows us the route of this division (the republican party and the evangelicals who follow those republican leaders). GET THIS BOOK, READ THIS BOOK ASAP!
