John once stated in an interview that while he wrote that, he had Paul (McCartney) in mind...it was meant as a joke, nothing personal..they used to do that all the time..well...flip side to the coin has it, that Paul "dedicated" "Fool on the Hill" to John, so there you go...a lil' mockering between friends...

The walrus itself comes from the poem. However walrus changes, there isn't any definite person as the walrus. Also, the song doesn't have any meaning. John stated that he created the song because he heard about some teacher getting his students to analyse Beatles songs in classes. He decided to just make up a random song and he was quoted saying "Let the f*ckers work that one out."

John Lennon also says that Paul is the walrus in a song "don't you know that the walrus and me were as close as can be... And the walrus was Paul." I am just not sure what song. I think Glass Onion.
