Don't have a problem with this. Whatever makes flying safer. Spending a whole 3 seconds giving them my finger prints is the least of my worries when I'm boarding a plane these days.

A woman passenger has been arrested after a flight from London to Washington was diverted to Boston because of an on-board disturbance .

Transport officials said the 59-year-old woman was held in connection with a confrontation with the flight crew. She was carrying hand cream - a banned item - and matches on board the United Airlines flight. The aircraft was escorted into Logan airport by two jet fighters.

Responding to reports that the woman had been tied up during the flight, United Airlines spokesman Brandon Borrman said that she had been restrained. "Safety and security are top priority. Crews are trained to restrain when they feel it is appropriate for the safety and security of the flight," he said.

Reports that the woman was carrying a screwdriver and a note referring to al-Qaeda have been denied. Security officials at Boston's Logan International airport laid all of the luggage from the plane out on the runway and checked every item with sniffer dogs.

I hesitate to believe that police stopped her for no reason whatsoever. She probably fit the profile of someone they were looking for, stopped her, asked her some questions which she refused to answer, so they took her in based on the idea that they may be talking to the person they were looking for.

another stupid idea that will no doubt be laughed out of parliment as it deserves

they've all but scraped the idea of all in one passport/ID cards with all manner of eye retina scans and finger prints and DNA crap because, for one, they cant even get the most basic information systems to work correctly (see the soham murders for details) and the cost was going to be in the 10's of billions

the only security related issue that seems executable and justified is to DNA sample every newborn child in the country

not only would you help identify "terrorists" but you would be able to identify the perpetrators of almost any physical crime (as opposed to electronic) because it is virtually impossible to commit a crime without tranfer of DNA evidence

Fingerprinting will help to positively identify every passenger. If you have nothing to hide, then taking a whole 10 seconds to register your thumb on a scanner shouldn't be a problem, or a violation of your civil rights.
