Of course something is not always true because everyone says it is because in a lot of cases people are simply ignorant but when it comes to things like the arts, public perception is everything, simply because it's all made up, so there are no real facts to support anything.

As for "Avril Lavigne is a real rock chick!" if the most people class her as a "rock chick" then under the opinion of the public she is that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I know what a lot of Genre's are and I'm learning about more all the time, I'm just not really great at assigning them to specific bands, that's why I use wikipedia, if it has them wrong, then I'll be wrong some of the time, it doesn't change the music.

You should write a book or something, you seem knowledgeable, maybe it'd stop you harassing forum members for a while... I'm only kidding about the harassment thing but you should consider writing some sort of book.

Taking Back Sunday is hardly emo. I'd say they're soft pop. Emo is usually whinning about how bad ones' life is. I have yet to hear TBS write a song like that.

A lot of those questions are associated with teenage depression. Having depression does not make you emo.
