how many issues into the arc is this one? I thought about getting it, but I didn't know what part it was on.

this is the first issue of him fighting gl's the other 28 are about diffrent things like fighting darkseid, mr mxy, and so on

I've always wondered: is this series canon?

What a horrible book. Seriously, I think S/B fight more heroes in this book than they do villains.

Props to J'onn for verbally taking a dump on Batman though.

So this was the start of the GL story arc?

yeah

The story arc started last issue actually. It's not like GL's are central in the plot.

S/B was mindless fun for the first couple of arcs, and the Absolute Power arc was underrated in my opinion. Very entertaining. The book took such a steep downhill dive after issue 19(which was really Supergirl 0). S/B 26 deserves to be owned by all though as it was Sam Loeb's story.

But yeah, horrible really is the word to describe this book now.

Public Enemies and Absolute Power were pretty good. The rest of it sucks.

It don't follow continuity that well though.

True. The writers claim that it skirts the edge of continuity. Same deal as Astonishing X-Men.

According to Whedon, it's because AXM doesn't have to focus issues on whatever big Marvel event is happening at the time. They can just tell their own story and let the editors figure out where it fits in.

I love the art in this book.

Other than that the current arc's Silver Age references have been awesome

That and Hal and Kilowog are in it.
