So you live in a country that has no healthcare system, right? The question is, does it suck as bad as ppl say it does? And yes, I'm aware that you can't take criticism or even anyone questioning the superiority of what is reputed to be the greatest nation on Earth, so I know you'll probably give me a snappy, smartassed comeback like "well does it suck as bad as they say it does living in a country with no military?"

You should always hold debates with yourself. Always.

You never know, you might win one...

1. Shut the f*ck up. If you want to stereotype Americans as militant assholes...go ahead (you may not be wrong)...but you don't need to post it/rub it in.

You're fine if you have money. But insurance rates are skyrocketing beyond belief. Its choking the lives out of every small business I know and it hurts a lot of families BIG time.

And then of course there are the 50 million people with no coverage...and it sucks big time for them.

Doesnt bother me at all. Then again my family is wealthy so I wouldnt know. I assume it would suck pretty hard for the poor people. But **** it..they can move to Canada if they care that much about it. Or get a better job.

America is one true capitalist country of today. I cannot think of a country more capitalist than America.

Thus anything socialist related is considered unecessary. Such being the healthcare system.

you know your asking for americans to respond with an attitude when you post like that. Like a lot of places it depends on who you are. If youve got money it doesnt much matter, but there are still options for people who are less fortunate. As far as your insults and stereotypes grow up.

My coworker and I were discussing America/capitalism and the differences between us and Cuba and she told me this story about her doctor in Cuba. Basically she said she'd always feel bad for her doctor because he wasn't payed well enough and he couldn't even afford nice shoes, the shoes he had were torn and tattered. So then when she gets to America and all the doctors are driving fancy cars and wearing nice shoes, she goes to get some treatment and she can't afford her medical bills.

Yes. Also true. However, coroporations have been fairly effective at preventing unions from forming. Organizaitons like unions should certainly be entered into this question.

Well, judging from Germany Unions are egoistical bastards that just destroy every chance of advancement. That is if they are not fair, which could happen too, but usually doesn't. I'm not too fond of Unions, I think there must be other ways to give employers fair chances.

From what I hear, it didn't always take months to get treatment in this country. I was born in 1984, so the time in which the healthcare system was as good as Americans stereotype it as being was likely a time that occurred before I was born. Obviously, having a healthcare system doesn't mean waiting for months to get treatment. It's only having a lousy healthcare system that means that.

We do not have a governmentally instituted and run healthcare system. We do have a healthcare system. Here is a little something you may want to consider, in the U.S. more medical breakthroughs have occurred than in the majority of the rest of the world. Why? Because doctors and other medical personnel are well compensated for such work. Also, U.S. doctors are highly respected by the global community. The issue that the U.S. is having is the corporate structure of the insurance company and the ability for insurance to not only insure, but also own and fund hospitals and clinics. The best solution would be for hospitals and insurance companies to be separate entities with no ties. All the same, I have friends that live in Europe, I lived there for five years. Given my experience with European medical Establishments and personnel, I prefer the U.S. brand of healthcare to at least three of Europe's shining star countries.

Quite right. A Canadian invented insulin, and another invented the mobile blood bank thingy (the latter guy was Dr. Norman Bethune, though I forget what the name of that thingy he invented was. And yes, he was a communist. I'm certain that there are certain Americans out there who would like to point that fact out).

The free market American Health Care today is abysmal. I'm an American and it is disappointing to realize that the best health care I can be provided with is actually worse than the health care provided in Britain, who has a nationalized Health Care system, to its lowest citizen. No, it doesn't suck. Most people have coverage, and some of those that don't do so on purpose. For some, it's cheaper to simply pay for their doctor visits out of pocket when they have to go rather than paying for insurance every month. For others, they simply can't afford it. But then, you always have to look at the fact that hospitals are required to see an emergency patient regardless of whether they have coverage or not.

If you want to ask us what its like to be in a country with no government sponsored healthcare, I'd suggest you take a look at the quality of our healthcare compared to those who do do have the government involved. Our system is more efficient, it's quicker, it's of better quality, and it costs a hell of a lot less on the average person than if they had to support it via taxes.

Remember: Free healthcare is one of the most expensive forms there are.

Canada may be a lot of things but our free health care is an amazing system. Sure it has it's flaws and it may cost tax payers more but in the long run it's only benefiting the public. Not to mention, to all the Americans who poke fun at it, just remember it next time you're crossing the border to get our free flu shots or much cheaper prescription drugs instead of paying on your side.

Welllllll. I kinda like it here. Theres several ways for people to get healthcare. K-chip, medical cards ect for low income and many hospitals have low income programs for help in paying medical bills. Honestly I have good insurance but once upon a time I have relied on one of these programs for help. It worked just fine. Its a helluva lot bette than the alternative.
