This guy proved the efficacy of low volume/ high intensity training and I think he's the best there ever was. Before I tried high intensity for myself, I used to wonder skeptically "How the hell do you grow with one set?!"
Well, here I am, standing 6'2" at 207 lbs (I'm the typical ectomorph prototype) and just hope to reach above 280 within the next five years.

No doubt a thick mo-fo. Pictures really never do these people justice as you have to see them in person to appreciate their size and definition.
Df02
why would anyone want to look like that? personally i think it just looks grotesque
Up In Flames
it does look grotesque, doesnt it. honestly, if someone said behind my back "that guy's got ugly muscles", it just gives me more fuel to make them even uglier.
damn it feels good to be a mass monster!

Ah, the wonders of ingesting questionable chemical compounds mixed with weight training....

Up In Flames
There are two kinds of people in this world. There are those that bring others down to build themselves up, and there are those who just build...
You dig, digi?
Df02
wasnt attempting to bring anyone down, was just voicing my opinion... by all means develop your body to any point you want.
Maestro
I didn't personally follow the sport, if you can call it that, but I would put Ronnie coleman above him.

I dig that you're trying to make me feel guilty for saying something derogatory about your boy here, but I have no qualms pointing out that what the majority of these body builders do is harmful to themselves, and sends a negative impression to those who wish to emulate them.

hey, i like Dorian Yates, but the best bodybuilder ever is Schwarznigger, noone cared about bodybuilding until him and Ferringo came along, How many times did Yates when Mr.Olympia?..... Arnold won it 5 times, and last i checked that was still the record, and all these guys are on the juice, you can't get that big with just protein.

one of the main problems caused by steroids is heart complications, which yates showed none of. what you must know is that there are other nutritional supplements out there that can produce physiques as such.
by the way, most national and international bodybuilding contests conduct drug testing and some bodybuilders have been disqualified for that, but not this guy.

yates won it six times. (1992-1997)
arnold won it seven times. (not sure of the dates, he won six in a row then came back for a seventh win in 1980, which many people disputed, saying that mike mentzer should have won it.)
lou ferrigno never won, but an extraordinary bodybuilder nonetheless.

dont get me wrong, ronnie is the biggest and strongest bodybuilder on the planet, but with a distended stomach i dont think he holds his mass and aesthetics well.
wuTa
yea my bad, i knew he held the record, i thought it was 5, but you're right its 7...i know Lou never won it, he'd always get 2nd place to Schrawznigger

actually, arnold doesnt hold the record. its lee haney and ronnie coleman with a tie of 8 straight wins. but i have a feeling ronnie's gonna make a nine this year. he's so large, he's in a league of his own.

its looks sick imo. I did some weights for a while and liked the feeling it produced. But I stopped when I started getting big, my original target which was weight loss went pear shaped due to the muscle I gained in a short time (15 kilo!!)
I go swimming now, suits me better, trains all muscles and produces a nice body (look at swimmers)
Up In Flames
not really. their shoulders tend to look out of proportion in comparison with the rest of their body.

All well and good, but if you're deluding yourself into thinking that someone can compete in the bodybuilding world and not be taking some form of steroids, you're sadly mistaken. Anyone in the business will tell you that it's not only common, but an accepted practice (including, famously, Arnold, who admits as much about his days as a body builder).
Also, most nutritional supplements are steroids, or contain some form of them....just in lower doses that are intended to get results without as many side effects normally associated with roids. There's also, as baseball and other sports show us, loads of stuff they can't test for. Testing, at this point, is a joke. If you want to get around tests, you can.
I have no doubt Yates is awesome, and I admire his dedication and dominance in the sport. But just realize what it is exactly that you're looking at rather than attempting to justify it as totally natural.
Jim Reaper
Yates a natural body builder... That's rich.

you're wrong when you state that all supplements are steroids, but you are right that a lot of bodybuilders use the juice. what i can justify about this guy is that he trains very heavy but with fewer sets and less frequently, compared to some guys who are able to train both heavy and for longer periods of time, only to be back in the gym the next day. performance enhancement is the main effect of steroid use.

I think Lee Haney set the bar way before Dorian. My choice is Steve Reeves. Bobybuilding then was clean. Haney, Yates etc just doesn't look natural
Up In Flames
Steve Reeves? I would have been more impressed if you mentioned Larry Scott. Steve Reeves still looks a bit too skinny to be considered a bodybuilder.

those chemicals have done a great job
anyway, all natural muscle, i would give it to none other than Fedor Emelianenko. Pure strength.

Anyone that can survive this carnage, and pull off a win and still remaining undefeated...deserves to be the best.

At least show someone with legs...
Dreampanther
I'm not a big guy myself, so I prefer the gymnasts, rather than the body-builders...
I worked out for a while, though, and I have to admit it's addictive...
