the faithful bride...

katelovespirate
So i was reading some script version of CoTBP, which appears to be an earlier version from before they filmed. its got a few extra scenes and lines, some changes of names, and the order of some of the scenes has changed.

something that REALLY interested me was this bit- its from just after Jack and Will arrive in Tortuga.

"Jack leads Will toward a pub: the Faithful Bride, the
emblem over the door a politically incorrect painting of a
smiling woman holding a bouquet in her chained-and-manacled
hands."

Now if that isnt saying something about these writer's view of marriage, i dont know what does.... big grin

katelovespirate
oh my goodness where did this bloody script come from??? its the imsdb version. Have you guys read it??? check out THIS scene!!!!!!!

Elizabeth jumps up, silver platter in hand, ready to swing
-Jack catches her before she can do any damage. They
recognize each other.

ELIZABETH
You?!

JACK
Me!

ELIZABETH
You're in league with Barbossa!

JACK
No, I'm -- rescuing you.

Elizabeth can't comprehend that one.

ELIZABETH
You?!

Will gains his footing in the rubble.

WILL
Miss Swann! We're here to rescue
you!
(sounds of pursuit,
approaching)
It's going badly!

JACK
This way!

They race off, toward a bit of moonlight -

EXT. ISLA DE MUERTE - NIGHT

The three climb up a dark crevasse that leads out onto the
island. Will takes Elizabeth's hand, helps her.

WILL
I'm glad we got here in time.

ELIZABETH
Truthfully -- you were a bit late.

JACK
The trick isn't getting here, it's
getting away.

As if on cue, they hear the yells of pirates, coming
closer. They take off -

EXT. ISLA DE MUERTE - CLEARING - NIGHT

The three race through the rocks, the sounds of pursuit
close behind. Suddenly Jack stops.

ELIZABETH
Come on!

JACK

No. This won't work.
(a quick decision)
I'll stay behind, and fight them.
You go on.

Will and Elizabeth stare at him.

WILL
No.

JACK
I'll lead them away.

The sounds are closer.

JACK (CONT'D)
Go to the opposite end of the
island, and signal the ship. I'll
keep 'em busy.

WILL
Are you sure? Jack -- this is not
something you have to do.

JACK
I'm sure. When you've led the kind
of life I have, there are debts
that must be paid. Maybe I can
balance the scales a little.

Will nods, hesitates... gives Jack his sword - - now Jack
has two, ..one for each hand. Elizabeth gives him a quick
kiss.

Will and Elizabeth race away, and are gone.

Jack watches them for a moment, turns to face the pirates.
He sticks the two swords in the ground, crossed. Leans
casually against a rock.

A group of pirates round a corner, cutlasses drawn, ready
to fight -- but Jack raises his hand.

JACK (CONT'D)
I invoke the right of parlay,
according to the Code of the
Brethren, set down by the pirates
Morgan and Bartholomew...

EXT. ISLA DE MUERTE - NIGHT

Jack stands before Barbossa, surrounded by pirates. Jack
has a wide smile on his face -- and Barbossa doesn't like
it.

BARBOSSA
I'm inclined to kill you now, Jack
Sparrow, without so much as a
word, if you don't lose that grin
from your face.

Jack's smile remains. Barbossa puts a hand to his cutlass -

JACK
The woman's blood didn't work, did
it?

Barbossa hesitates.

OkAY CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT SCENE?!?!?! i cant believe the way they changed it sooooo much for the filming!!!!!! Liz kissed Jack?!?!?! Woah. this is intense. i cant believe i havent read this before!!!! i cant believe this is what it was originally spose to be!!!!

katelovespirate
HOLY CRAP IT JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!!

BARBOSSA (CONT'D)
Pintel ... set sail. If this fool plan
is to work, we'll need the medallion,
and that means catching the ship which
brought 'em here.

Jack is caught completely off guard. For the first time,
his smile fades.

JACK
What -- you don't have the medallion?

BARBOSSA
That fool woman took it. You be
careful around her, Jack -- she's
pretty enough, she'll steal your
heart -- but pure evil inside.

JACK
I'll watch my back.

BARBOSSA
Bosun! Set up Mr. Sparrow's quarters,
nice and fine ... in the brig.
(to Jack, a smile)
Meaning no disrespect, of course.

Jack nods, and is taken away. Barbossa stares after him,
not hiding his mistrust.

DID YOU CATCH BARBOSSA's FLIPPING COMMENT ABOUT LIZ?!?@&*&E

heres the link to it, guys. im like FREAKING OUT...
http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Pirates-of-the-Caribbean.html

CaptinJackLover
oooo interesting.....

so where did you find the script?? i rele want to read it!!!

katelovespirate
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH heres more:

Elizabeth holds the medallion, and finishes her tale:

ELIZABETH
... you were in danger ... so I took
the medallion. And I've kept it ever
since. They thought I was you, that
they needed my blood. And it didn't
work.

She hands him the medallion.

WILL
Why would my father send this to me?

ELIZABETH
To keep it away from them? No pirate
would sail to London, for fear of
Execution Dock.

WILL
If I had known-

ELIZABETH
(anticipating him)
-- then we never would have met.

Will nods. They hold each other's gaze a moment. Will turns
away first, leans on the rail. Looks out to sea, back the
direction they came.

WILL
I can't believe he would make such
a sacrifice for us.

ELIZABETH
I guess you can never truly know
someone else's heart.

Will glances at her, and nods.

I put the link up there, here it is again. this is the script before they filmed it. THIS MAKES IT ALLL ABOUT JACK AND FLIPPING LIZ> omgsh.
http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Pirates-of-the-Caribbean.html

CaptinJackLover
YAY! cant wait to read it!!!

Bwa Ha Ha
whoa...

katelovespirate
GUYS THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.

omgsh.

katelovespirate
here's another great bit... they actually talk about this one in the commentary

NORRINGTON
You may seclude yourself in my
cabin. I'm afraid we do not have
any ladies' clothing aboard.

ELIZABETH
Then I can wear men's clothing.

NORRINGTON
That would hardly be proper.

ELIZABETH
Well, I am not going to stay
hidden in a some cabin, 80 I
suppose it's going to be heaving
bosoms and bare ankles for the
remainder of the voyage!

Norrington is exasperated, but then can't help but grin -
this is exactly why he loves her. She grins back at him -
she's not going to change.

mmoviejunkie
I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!
ahh now i'm sooo excited for 3!

willofthewisp
Check this part out. It's when Barbosa makes Liz and Jack walk the plank.

We follow Elizabeth amid foam and bubbles as she PLUNGES
down

through the water. Blue and clear, with streaks of sunlight
cutting down; bright coral and tropical fish, and a lovely
young woman in a silk dress. .. if it weren't for the
mortal danger, the scene could be described as gorgeous.

Elizabeth spots Jack, below her now, sinking, struggling.
She swims down ... unties his bonds.

Elizabeth starts for the surface. Inexplicably, Jack swims
the other way, further down into the depths.

EXT. CARIBBEAN SEA - DAY

Elizabeth breaks the surface, looks around. And then,
finally Jack appears, sucking in air. He shows what he went
after: his pistol. He tucks it into his shirt.

Looks like Liz saved his life and came into very close contact with him. And I have another. This is slightly different from the deleted scene.

ELIZABETH (CONT'D)
(under her breath)
Drink up me hearties, yo ho...

JACK
What? What was that?
(Elizabeth smiles)
Something funny, Miss Swann? share.
Please,

ELIZABETH
Nothing ... it's nothing. Just ...
I'm reminded of a song I learned
as a child. A song about pirates.

JACK
I know a lot of songs about pirates,
but none I'd teach a child. Let's hear
it.

ELIZABETH
Oh, no ... it's silly. Back in
England we didn't know a thing
about pirates, really. They seemed
so romantic and daring -

Jack likes the way that sounds.

ELIZABETH (CONT'D)
(looks at him)
That was before I met one, of
course.

Jack likes the way that sounds! He's getting into her. Awwwww.

willofthewisp
OHH!! Big news, everyone! We all saw the climax at the first movie where Barbosa spots Liz running towards the chest and gets his gun ready to shoot her, only Jack shoots him first, right? Well, this was what was originally going to happen.

BARBOSSA
So what now, Jack Sparrow? Are we
to be two immortals, locked in
epic battle until the trumpets of
Judgment Day?

JACK
Or you could surrender.

He shoves Barbossa back, out of the moonlight. Barbossa
stalks the room, his attention focused on Jack.

BARBOSSA
Or I could chain you to a
cannonball and drop you in the
deepest part of the ocean, where
you can contemplate your folly
forever.

Barbossa charges -

A SHOT RINGS OUT -

They changed it so he would rescue Liz! This is somewhat of a clue, don't you think?

Bwa Ha Ha
indeed

katelovespirate
YES.

I think the most telling parts for me, were Barbossa's line:
BARBOSSA
That fool woman took it. You be
careful around her, Jack -- she's
pretty enough, she'll steal your
heart --

And the part where Jack actually saves Will and Liz in the cave and Liz gives him a kiss, and then she and Will talk about "never knowing a person's true heart..."

OMGSH. i cant believe we JUST found this. Im like freaking out.

and the thing is, story lines that they had to abandon in 1 they brought back in 2... Like the idea of Norrington turning pirate. So that makes me think they will want to bring all the story lines they originally couldnt fit in back in 3... ya know????

oh gosh. i cant believe it. If i hadnt seen 1, and just read this script, i would be convinced jack and liz ended up together.

this is AMAZING> OMGSH> WOW> wink

Bwa Ha Ha
awesome

katelovespirate
OOOOOO and i also loved this bit:
JACK
I'm sure. When you've led the kind
of life I have, there are debts
that must be paid. Maybe I can
balance the scales a little.

Will nods, hesitates... gives Jack his sword - - now Jack
has two, ..one for each hand. Elizabeth gives him a quick
kiss.

Will and Elizabeth race away, and are gone.

Jack watches them for a moment, turns to face the pirates.
He sticks the two swords in the ground, crossed. Leans
casually against a rock.

A group of pirates round a corner, cutlasses drawn, ready
to fight -- but Jack raises his hand.

JACK (CONT'D)
I invoke the right of parlay,
according to the Code of the
Brethren, set down by the pirates
Morgan and Bartholomew...

I LOVE how he uses the same exact line Elizabeth used. its PERFECT. peas in a pod.

willofthewisp
Wow. I didn't even catch that. They are so similar. How can they not belong together?

Bwa Ha Ha
perhaps the same line was used to show their minds work the same

katelovespirate
by this script, they belong together.

im so confused.

what is disney trying to pull here?!

Bwa Ha Ha
?

katelovespirate
I think they just took some of those plot lines and decided to draw them out over the trilogy, since they couldnt fit them all in one.

For instance, that Faithful Bride imagery from the pub... chained hands? AKA, this movie does not support marriage, but sees it as slavery/being tied down. Swans are birds, not meant to be tied down. In this script, Liz and Will share a kiss but they make no mention of a marriage. And that idea is shot down in 2 as well.

The idea of Jack turning around and saving Will and Liz... very apparent in 2. Barbossa's line about Liz stealing Jack's heart is also mirrored, though more by Davy Jones and Tia.

Liz is also seen more as a woman in this version of the script. Many lines in which they refer to her as a woman are changed to girl in the movie "the girls blood didnt work, did it?" that sort of thing. They cast Kiera younger than they thought they would cast someone. But she has aged between 1 and 2, and now they are able to incorporate a more womanly aspect of her.

And even in THIS script, Jack and Liz have ALL the chemistry, while Liz and WIll STILL Have none... big grin

katelovespirate
okay another thought, sorry, this got my mind racing. plus i took a side trip to starbucks- wink

back to the idea of the "faithful bride" perhaps they dont mean "bride" but they mean "faithful bride"... as in, perhaps she will marry Will, but still go after Jack?

i wish we had the original script for 2 as well.... oh gee....
this is so intense...

lovethemtigers
Well, i just watched some utube videos of Jackand Liz....Disney would be crazy not to put these two together....more Jackand Liz=More Money...More Money -= the reason you make sucessful movies....Jack and Liz are HOT...Will and LIz is boring... So Come On Disney give us what we want, whats' hott...what will keep us coming back for more....JACK AND LIZ

katelovespirate
this line really scares me:

WILL
I can't believe he would make such
a sacrifice for us.

ELIZABETH
I guess you can never truly know
someone else's heart.

Will glances at her, and nods.

I think you can all see what this one seems to point to...
But the rest of the script, its seriously MAINLY liz and jack moments. its incredible.

Lovethemtigers i fully agree.... if Disney wants to be a success, they know who to turn to. Captain Sparrow.

And Willofthewisp, i love the part they changed so Jack's shot saved Elizabeth at the end. Because, Jack was going on faith that Will had the medallions ready- he wasnt sure, ya know? He just saw Elizabeth in danger and shot... to save her. and luckily the timing was perfect.

WOAH. this is so wierd. i wonder how they got a hold of this script. it makes so much sense now, the way they talk about it in the commentary and stuff. all the scenes they mention are here. i am SO EXCITED we can read this now!!!!

Bwa Ha Ha
Where'd ya get it?

katelovespirate
its also hilarious to read some of the lines and know that Johnny totally improvised and made up way longer versions for himself... big grin

but everyone always said they wrote the script about liz and will, and Johnny just ended up stealing the show...

in this version of the script, it still seems like Jack Sparrow is the focus. Will is hardly in it at all or something.

It was funny how at the beginning, when Will is making swords at night before the pirates attack, he was supposed to be shirtless. LOL.

And I still cant get over Barbossa's line to Jack. WHat's Jack's response? "I'll watch my back"... but he doesnt obviously... i wish they would have filmed that bit... i would love to see it.

but i suppose tia says essentially the same thing to him in 2...

katelovespirate
i posted the link like 4 times on the first page. its the imsdb website.

Bwa Ha Ha
oops, forgot

Jacky Sparrow
oh, that's great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NORRINGTON
Elizabeth, I'm" relieved you're
safe.
(re: Jack)
Clap him in irons. And behind his
back this time.

ELIZABETII
Commodore, you can't do that!

NORRINGTON
You're speaking up for him again?

ELIZABETH
He can locate Isla de Muerta --
but I doubt he'll be willing to
help us from the brig.

JACK
(she's right)
We had time to get to know each other.

katelovespirate
LOL... wonder what THAT means... "we had time to get to know each other..."

katelovespirate
Okay, its rather interesting that at the end of film 1, Jack is humming the song Liz taught him when he finally gets back on the pearl.

As in, he has LIZ on the brain, even then...

I know...I mentioned this on another thread a while back...that is a very significant thing...it looks as if he is thinking about her...he is singing the song she taught him..."I'll teach it to the crew....and we'll sing it everyday..."....and then he's like "Show me that horizon"....and then DMC starts off where we now know that Jack is confused, vexed...his compass isn't working for him because he wants Elizabeth, but he doens't...the forbidden fruit....he shouldn't want her, but he does...that's why he wants to stay away from her...because he's afraid of what might happen...and once she does show back up in his life...look what happens...it's as if Jack looses all sense of what he is after...he is bedazzled by her...

Also, interesting that Jack is holding that compass at the end of POTC...and then DMC is all about that darn Compass...The Compass...the story revolves around that thing....
"Where does it point"
"It points to the THING you want most in this world."

ivebeendepped43
ITS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!! sorry, had to point that out

katelovespirate
such good points. seriously.

what is the NEW thing that vexes all men (and women)?? WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THIS FLIPPING MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

In this original script, Liz was also given a lot more gutsy lines---the adventuress she becomes in movie 2 was more apparent in this script... as in her line "heaving bosoms and bare ankles all the way"... its things like That which make me think a Liz/Jack ending must be coming... that they took themes from their orginal idea and stretched them out over a trilogy, so in the first one they could tie it up with a neat little ending, but when given the chance, they could bring back with full force all the more important ideas they wanted to play with... Like Jack really falling for Liz, and Liz getting her original wish (a pirates life for me).

I wish i could send a bunch of pirates to your house for a party. LOL.

Have a great day of it!!!

ivebeendepped43
thanx! 4 my birthday, i want Jack to come over!!!!

katelovespirate
hahahaha. smile

Jack: Well dearie, I've heard its your birthday. Instead of singing you a song or getting you a present, i thought you might want to know all the secret endings of 3...

heheh then you could share and we would all be happy. LOL

ottergirl25
My two cents- if a romance is going to continue in #3- it had to be built slowly... subtle. Liz is supposed to be a proper English lady. It is to be expected that she fall in love with someone suitable, and already her father has doubts about Will. Jack? Please... they had to build this tension in tiny bits and pieces to make it work because it is preposterous. If they had made the film exactly like these bits of script that are beeing shared, it would have been WAY too obvious that flames were igniting between Jack and Liz.

ottergirl25
Happy Birthday, Ivebeendepped smile

evilm0nki3
The writers on the commentary for pirates 1 were saying that they wanted the movie to be a romantic pirate movie or something.. so yeah..

katelovespirate
yes evilmonki, thats so true!

the writers did say they weren't basing it all on reality- but on the romantic pirate image.

in that case, Jack Sparrow will turn out to be the ultimate hero/rogue/hott guy who gets the girl. i mean, in romantic piratology, the damsel always falls for the unsuitable mysterious pirate, right?!

ivebeendepped43
Jack doesnt need disney to be a hott guy!

katelovespirate
hahaha nope.

jack sparrow is the ultimate romantic pirate image. mysterious, self-sufficient, lovable, charming, outrageous, BEAUTIFUL, clever, and enigmatic.

Liz is the ultimate damsel: gorgeous, spunky, witty, classy, and the only one who can duel Jack with words.

Will is the cliche Disney dartanian figure... jumpy, nervous, uptight, brave (in a slightly too obvious way), eager, inexperienced, more brawns-than-brains, easily offended, awkward, and in love.

If they were serious about these films focusing more on the romantic image of pirates, Liz and Jack HAVE to end up together.

If they continued to carry the themes of this first script, Liz and Jack HAVE to end up together.

I'm still really interested to see how Will is going to develope, however. After he avenges his father, where else can his character go?

katelovespirate
this script says Liz was 12 when she first met Will, and 20 when the first movie happens. that would put her at 21 or 22 in DMC...

it also describes norrington as a "dashing young man" suggesting that he was younger than i figured in 1. he actually looks younger in 2.

katelovespirate
haha another interesting fact floating around...

the actors were told Annamaria would be the one coming down the stairs in Tia's hut at the end of the film, so their reaction when Barbossa walks down is also genuine, like Will's reaction to the kiss.

I CANNOT WAIT to hear the commentary for 2. OH GEEE...

Jacky Sparrow
where did you find this?? i'm always searching after news, but did not find any.

katelovespirate

OMG how cool is this??

Its totally Jack/Liz

and that sign on the pub..hint hint?? lol

katelovespirate
I KNOW IT!!!!!! seriously....

ivebeendepped43
lol

katelovespirate
this one definately makes Jack's honest streak WAY more apparent. Actually, it makes the whole character of Jack Sparrow slightly less ambigious. I am actually really happy they changed it a bit and decided to draw out these themes and character development over the 3 instead of cramming it into 1... and i like that Jack's character is a lot harder to predict, a lot harder to grasp. it makes it way more exciting this way.

and less obvious who is going to end up with whom, who is going to do what.

after the first one, if you had asked people "do you think Elizabeth would ever cheat on Will?" "Do you think Norrington would ever turn pirate?" "Do you think Governor Swann would ever betray his honor?" everyone would have been like HELL NO.... but thats what happens in 2.... all sorts of unpredictable, even shocking things, that somehow fit perfectly with the character development.

So thats what 3 is going to be, probably. A bunch of things happening that even WE couldnt imagine or predict... that if someone suggested now, we would laugh at....

ivebeendepped43
lol

katelovespirate
im serious. smile

Bwa Ha Ha
lets suggest strange things and see if they happen...

I like you, ottergirl. Welcome to the board. You bring excellent points. I agree. We couldn't have them fall for each other at the beginning. They're both too stubborn. Plus, the best relationships are the ones that forge themselves, not ones we have to try to make. The heart wants what the heart wants.

I have a question: Kate was saying about a year or two has passed since POTC1 and POTC2. Well, why would Beckett wait that long to arrest them for something that happened such a long time ago? Has he just know heard the news that Jack has a compass that will show people the thing they want the most? It just seems like if he wanted the heart that bad, he would have arrested them the day after. I mean, Will and Liz haven't exactly been hiding out. They've been planning their wedding and Will's been teaching her how to fight.

katelovespirate
EXactly, brilliant point.

There was something going on with Beckett... either he was in league with Tia, or someone.

The writers cant expect us to swallow that he just HAPPENED to show up on the MORNING of their wedding, after a serious YEAR had passed. please.

wink

Bwa Ha Ha
indeed

willofthewisp
So maybe he is in league with Tia. I never thought so before, even when LovelyOne made a case for it. It just seemed like, "is he so evil he decides to WAIT a YEAR before arresting them?" Wouldn't every single person who was there at the hanging that day know it was them? I bet they get strange looks back home, if they ever go "home" again. I think Liz's home is on the high seas with her Jack and Will's is doing something with his dad. So kiss Port Royal goodbye, Will and Liz!

Bwa Ha Ha
no more port royal...

ivebeendepped43
wwaahhhh!!

Bwa Ha Ha
aren't they at port royal in beggining of DMC?

ivebeendepped43
uuummmm, yeah

Bwa Ha Ha
oh

yoho

katelovespirate
Oh Jack...

this movie would NOT have been a success if they hadnt turns Jack's character around a bit, and made it less of a cardboard one. Cause Will is definately hardly a character in 1... and Liz really has to work hard to seem human as well, so its a good thing they made Jack 100% human and didnt try to make him the hero for no reason.

Jack and Barbossa oddly seem to be a bit more friendly with each other in this script... the relationship in the film is so unique to the actors.

But Barbossa does say a line warning Jack to be careful around Liz, or else he will fall in love with her...

Will this be carried through to the third film, when Barbossa is rumored to save Jack? Does this "saving" represent Barbossa convincing Jack that to go after Elizabeth is just too dangerous? or something?

After the 1st one, I just STILL cant figure out why Barbossa would have anything to do with saving Jack... even to get the pearl back.

Jacky Sparrow
I don't know...but it's said that Barbossa later gives his life to save Jack when the Kraken attacks the ship...so I've asked me why he should do that because they were never friends...but maybe Barbossa realises that Liz needs Jack or something like that...I can't imagine another reason. I mean Jack has killed him in 1

katelovespirate
theres another question---- are we going to have to endure more kraken attacks?!?!!

cause i am kind of krakened-out. it was a great plus to 2, but if i have to sit through another movie of hopeless sea battle with the giant vagina, i will be slightly miffed.

how many more boats can this thing take down before there arent any boats left in the caribbean? why cant they just flipping kill it?

and they CANT lose the pearl again, if they get it back.

Jacky Sparrow
they said it's another ship, it's not the Pearl! But that makes no sense. Why should they be on another ship when the have the Pearl back? Or maybe Will commandeered the Pearl and leaves Jack and the rest.

yoho
Hopefully Jack would have killed the kraken before he died, and Barbossa probably went along because Tia wanted him to? since Tia had brought him back to life. Also I think I read somewhere that he wanted to do one good deed before he died, to redeem himself, not quite sure.

willofthewisp
I hope when we first see Jack he'll be in this dark space and we won't know where he is and all of a sudden it will cut to show the Kracken and its tentacles tense up in pain and we see Jack cut himself out of it, all covered in Kracken blood and slime.

yes that would be very disney to do that-- i can see them doing it...

but if the kraken is killed early on, there isnt a huge point to the EITC having the heart, cause the heart is meant to control jones to control the kraken to take out whatever ships they dont like, and if the kraken is dead, the heart is pretty much worthless... right?!

ivebeendepped43
i love jack

katelovespirate
Yeah Barbossa is definately a redeemable character. even in one, you feel sorta bad when he dies, because he wanted to be free of the curse so much.

and its obvious he and jack respect each other, despite their differences.

i dont think Barbossa is actually keen on helping Jack though... unless he HAS to, since Tia asked him to and Tia brought him back, ya know???

In some way, there are going to have to make this whole "bringing dead people back" a bit more clear, or it wouldnt matter WHO died, and will and liz could bring back their mothers or whatever...

i just hope it doesnt get out of hand. Like, there is a special reason Barbossa and Jack get to come back.

CaptinJackLover
actually i htink thats what will happen...cuz there has to be a reason for Tia wanting to bring him back....i mean her and Jack werent even that close so she probably needs him for sumthing, as well as barbossa, or mabe he was just to help get Jack bak.....but i htink she is going to use Jack, cuz after all she is the reason he is safe, and she can use that to her advantage

ivebeendepped43
im just dying to figure out what happened between Jack and Tia in the past

CaptinJackLover
i remember wtahcing this thing on tv about POTC2 and JD said Gore Verbinski (SP?) told him to make up a past between him and Tia and try to make that past obvious but not tooobvious to the audience....and to me it seems like they used to be lovers or sumthuiung like that but it all went wrong and thats why he was afraid to visit her

ivebeendepped43
that makes a lot of sense. i always miss those interviews and it really upsets me. and yes, u spelled it right. "If you ask me, the movie could have had a lot more Gore and a lot less Verbinski." sry AskANinja again. i LOVE that site!

In the original script of 2:

What I'm wondering about is that there is nothing mentioned that Liz is crying at the end...it's written only that she doesn't drink, but why? I mean they have even written the kiss in detail, that she leans in again and so on, but why not the crying? Because it makes another sense, it's another perspective of her feeling, isn't it??

willofthewisp
Maybe they wanted her to be so emotionally drained she COULDN'T cry, you know? Like it's important that she doesn't drink because she can't very well toast a man she just sold out. But I've been so upset over things before that I just didn't have energy to cry. Maybe they were going for that and then changed their minds and directed Keira to cry.

ivebeendepped43
so so sad. Elizabeth weeping over Jack. why didnt she just let it out! she kknows she wants him!!

this isn't the writer's version of the script. fans put it together after seeing the movie.

so it wouldnt contain the actual hints from the writers. LOL.

ivebeendepped43
wish it did, though

Mistypirate
Haa here it is I found it big grin

Mistypirate
OMF CRAB eek! I cant believe this was on the first draft. They obviously had something on their mind with the J/L characters. Oh and the Liz kiising Jack on the cheek was so cute. Jack was more courages in that script. AWESOME

katelovespirate
YAYAY!!! you found it!!!!!!!!!!! smile hahaha, i KNOW!~! they're first version of film 1 was soooo good, but i understand why had to change things in case they didnt get to do more. they brought back nearly all the themes they had to cut out though. smile i need to go back and re read this thread

Now if that isnt saying something about these writer's view of marriage, i dont know what does.... big grin

wow... i forgot all about that early script for cotbp. thats hilarious. the writers are obsessed with chains and manacles. but since Elizabeth succeeding in chaining Jack, i reckon that means they are married now. LOL jk jk... but there seems to be a lot of symbolic links between the two.

calypso
She chained him to the Pearl and I would think she married him to his beloved Pearl forever, or so she thought.

The only semblance I see in that scene is that Jack put chains around her neck to escape in COTBP, and she chained him in DMC to escape and according to TnT, to save Will.

I just hope we don't hear her say. "Ya know Darlin', it would never have worked between us."

willofthewisp
Lol, Liz is Jack's ball and chain. I think it is just another way for the writers to show they are questioning what true freedom is. Is Jack free, or is his concept of freedom really just holding him back? Many brides would disagree with the logo of the bar.

What's really interesting is that it is Barbossa of all people that warns Jack not to get close to Liz. I wonder if played differently, Barbossa and Liz's scenes could imply that....uh....rather than eating a bushel of apples as his first act of being able to feel, he might just take her into the captain's quarters and "play cards."

Anyone else think that Barbossa might have had a little crush on her, or at least was attracted to her?

evilm0nki3
yes! I think he does.

yes! thank goodness i'm not the only one. LOL. i think Barbossa was just lonely and attracted to Elizabeth's bargaining skills, and it had probably been a long time since he was able to open up to anyone (think of his emotional speech to her before she stabs him), hahaha. but barbossa's view of attraction/romance is pretty skewed, as shown by his almost emotionally sadistic treatment of Elizabeth.

i love Barbossa. He is so complex. smile and I also love that Barbossa is the one to warn jack in that script version. sort of shows how Barbossa understand's Jack's weaknesses better than Jack himself does

calypso
Yep, that's me Barbossa. I need to write some more diaries. Sorry off topic. Today, I just don't have any self control. smile

willofthewisp
Lol, I understand.

Barbossa is so kill and I'm so excited he'll be back. Yeah, I'm not saying he's in love with Liz or wants to date her, but as a pirate, he's probably attracted to her for some of the same reasons Jack is: her resourcefulness, her spirit, her ability to remain calm under pressure. I think they both recognize when someone can make it in the pirate world and both see that in her and find it attractive. It's not every day a pure, pretty girl meets those requirements.
But I have a feeling he never forgave her for not being who she said she was. It will be interesting to see if he tries to kill her for revenge.

katelovespirate
I cant wait to see Barbie and Elizabeth working together. They have such amazing chemistry as actors. Just like Barbie and Jack. The talent is too much.

Willofthewisp, random question, but do you often find yourself dreaming of your book getting made into a film and subsequently casting it with your favorite actors?

calypso
Willo, IMO Barbossa respects Lizzy for her pirate side, but there's a bonus...she's a gurl. Women in that era were not expected to have a brain and on Barbossa's social strata were not much more than slaves. So for him to run into a fiesty, piratey, brave, young miss from the upper class, probably peaked his interest on more than one level.

IMO as far as Tia needing Jack and Barbossa, she needs someone on her side at the pirate council in order to be set free.

tee_pirategirl
OMG kate I saw this a while ago..T&T posted it on wordplayer and I was thinking of posting it but I couldn't find it but THNX. this script is so JE orianted I'm LOVING IT

"Willofthewisp, random question, but do you often find yourself dreaming of your book getting made into a film and subsequently casting it with your favorite actors?"-----Kate

Only every time I think of my book at all! I would love for it to be a movie that turns out to be a blockbuster and there are all these little cult message boards and toys out. That's the dream, especially since I get half the profits if it becomes a movie.
I have considered who I would cast and I'm having a hard time just imagining people who would look the parts. Are you really asking would I put the Johnny in it? I would make a place for him if I didn't think he fit anywhere!
I do have Keira in mind for my next one....as a bad guy.

hahaha thats brilliant. smile another random question, do you ever edit other people's writing?

it would be INCREDIBLE if your book became a movie. i just need to pm you because i'm eating message board space on non-pirate topics, but i have soooo many questions about the publishing process and the writing process behind your story, etc. maybe i'll just start a new thread and throw go-pirates in there to make it legit. wink

willofthewisp
Yeah, go ahead an PM me. Someone else already did with some questions.
I've never edited someone else's stuff, but I know how to do it learned a lot from the professor that edited mine. I'd be happy to answer any publishing/writing questions. You have the talent and creativity to do it.
