Anyone noticed that with topics the likes such as "What's it like to be White person?" and "The Spanish are chubby chasers." and (what I percieve to be) a decrease of intelligent/interesting/informed comments that the GDF has pretty much gone down the crapper?

The GDF has always been down the crapper. It's just a pretentious OTF.

I think it has gotten better. There are a lot fewer "I hate Bush" threads.

The true is the GDF has always been down the crapper.

Last time I posted here, before I left for a few months or so, it was pretty much the same... There are debates and there are threads that probably don't really belong here

I've had some very enjoyable debates in the OTF as well as the GDF, they're pretty much the same except most of the people in the OTF are total morons and most of the people in the GDF are pretentious bastards. Both forums are slowly merging now though.

Little do you know that the first page of the GDF today looks just like the first page of the GDF of 2003. Nothing has changed, the GDF isn't just for political debates, it's always been about anything and everything, just a slightly smarter version of the OTF.

My topic was joking and an actual news article. And asking what it's like to be a white person is a valid question, although not terribly conducive to...not...bad? discussion.

EDIT: On the plus side, your most recent thread is surely indicative of the heights of intellectual debate of the GDF.

This influx of new members, and the rise of rather bad threads, is quite disappointing. I wondered aloud whether the OTF is starting to loose its gravitational pull on all that is pointless and without purpose allowing such things to seep out and infect the more... shall we say, intellectual parts of the forum.

Yeah, the GDF does seem a little stupidererer recently. Only a few of us ever really reach a level of intellectual discussion that is challenging, but when we do...we do. Reach. A level of intellectual discussion that is challenging. The rest of the time it's like swatting flies with a newspaper, until you realise there's too much shit, so the flies never completely disperse. In which case, I usually start flicking through porn sites...

Maybe the turn of the season will mark a raise in the level of content; the summer months - disregarding a few exceptions that only serve to prove the rule - are generally low on political events and debate-worthy news. It's only in Autumn that that the shit-colored leaves begin to fall...
