Indie Films...

RZA
You know, I've come to the realization that there is no forum or sub-forum here on KMC to discuss Independent films.

Is there any chance that this might be added in the future?

Anyways, in the meantime I'm opening up this thread solely for the purpose of discussing any Independent movies that you have seen that you'd like to comment on. It could be a review, recommendation or just general comments about the movie.

I'm also going to include a link to another thread in which there have been many good Indie or small time cult hits that people have already recommended and/or commented on...http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f2/t324849.html

If you find a movie there that you would like to discuss, please by all means feel free to discuss it right here in this thread

I'll start off by asking has anyone seen a film called 'Little boy Blue'? If you have, what were your impressions? Did you like it? Why or why not?..etc...

Hopefully we can make this a very productive thread and a home for fans of films that aren't that well known.

jaden101
haven't seen little boy blue unfortunately...

small independant film i would recommend

top of the list would be

Dead man's shoes...which i wrote a review thread of

http://www.killermovies.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=339310&highlight=dead+mans+shoes

i would also recommend

Dancer in the dark...although it's made by a subsiduary of new line cinema so technically isn't independant

here;s a short review if you're interested

http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2000/09/13/dancer_in_the_dark_review.shtml

and i would also put up Disco pigs as highly recommended...one of cillian murphys earlier films...brilliant

There are a lot of more talent in indie films that in the hollywood blockbuster movies today. i specially recomended away from her, a fine story about a mature marriage being destroyed when the wife is affected by alzheimer. Great movie.

SelphieT
Coffee and Ciggarettes is probably my favorite indie film yes

MildPossession
Nice recommendations there Jaden, adore all three of those films, especially Dancer in the Dark! Perfect.

bakerboy
Dancer in the dark was a great, great movie. Bjork was fantastic.

Solo
I thought Bjork was the worst part of it. "Dancer in the Dark" is pretty great, though. I still need to see "Manderlay" and "Dogville". I also recommend seeing Dead Man's Shoes. It's pretty solid for the most part.

bakerboy
Desagree, for me, bjork did a fantastic peformance.

I didnt like too much manderley or dogville.

MildPossession
Bjork was a bit off at the start, but she seemed settled in as the film went on, she was fabulous in the court scenes, lots of emotion.

RZA
Bjork was in a movie and it was actually good? Well, I guess I'll have to check that out. What ever happened to her anyway. I haven't heard of an album release from her in 10yrs. The last thing I remember hearing was her getting married and how some dude who was stalking her tried to kill himself when he heard the news. Then again I really didn't care much for her music, the only time I ever really heard her music was when Beavis and Butthead used to make fun of her videos.

Yeah, I liked it too. The RZA, the GZA and Bill...f*cking Murray..lol. The scene with Roberto Benigni and Steven Wright was also pretty funny.

You'd also prob enjoy a little movie called 'Smoke' with Harvey Keitel. The scene between him and Mira Sorvino alone is worth the watch.

It's so bizarre that you have referenced, linked, and commented on that thread, yet still made this a pretty much duplicate thread! You weirdo!

RZA
Be yee not jealous Floo, I am creator of all things...YEY!

Anyway, sorry you feel that way dude, but nobody seems to want to post anymore in a thread that was obviously created by a troll.

You gotta be kidding me right. This coming from you!. That's gotta be the funniest thing I've ever read on this board. Ever!

Now unless you have something positive to contribute to this thread, I'd appreciate it if you just got 'the fudge out!' Please stop derailing my thread. I didn't do that to yours, in fact I contributed to it quite a lot. So please be so kind as to extend the same courtesy.

Btw, *whispers* that thread wasn't specifically about Indie films, so it's not the same confused

Fee-fi-fo...Pull your thumb outta yer bum. Or is it actually in your mouth? Oh, wait...I get it! For you, they both serve the same purpose: speech.

In other news, are you saying that you were inspired by a troll? So, that would make you a trollette, right? Ahhh, so cute.

Hey...*gets into this whispering thing*...I said your thread - for all intent and purpose - is pretty much the same. Why did I say that? Because it is, my child...Because. It. Is. They funny thing is that you realised this, but went ahead and made this one anyway. Good stuff.

Wow, you spent all night trying to come up with that one. Was that suppose to be witty and/or intelligent? Sounds like the ramblings of a spoiled little brat who has nothing better to do with his time and/or life. I must admit I'm quite disappointed, I expected a lot better from you. Oh and I don't speak troll speak.

Yes, I have to admit I was inspired by you oh great troll. You are in fact the trolliest of trolls and KMC's famous resident provocateur. Why you even have the good 'ole troll speak down to a science. You're a troll and a sock and according to the rules of this board you really should have been banned a long time ago, specifically the day you created this account but alas I am not a mod therefore I digress.

You're the biggest little attention whore on this forum, how cute but sad and pathetic indeed. Well, little boy you succeeded in getting my attention, I actually took the time to acknowledge you. Are you happy now? I know you must have been dying to let people know you were the troll/sock that created that thread, well you got your wish. Are you satisfied now? have you gotten enough attention yet? and will you go away and leave this thread for the adults and everyone else who has something useful to contribute or would you still like to play some more?

While you're contemplating that, please take the time to ponder this as well, is your life really that pathetic? Srsly?

I suspect the answer might be yes and if it is then I sincerely feel sorry for you.

Now in an effort to get this thread back on track, since of you mentioned some Indie foreign films, anyone seen 'Love, Honor and Obey' or 'Maria Full of Grace'?

jaden101
didn't really take a liking to love, honour and obey although i did like the shoot out in the car park and the weird bit near the end when they were dressed in funny costumes

I freaked out in the opening credits cause I had no idea that Meg and Jack White were gonna be in that movie.

"C'mon Jack, you pulled it all the way here in your little red wagon"

"No, Squirrrrrrrrrrel, like how the americans say it"

"You wanna go to the dentist for me?"

laughing out loud

Ultraman Baltan
My favorite is "The Blair Witch Project". I thought it was sheer brilliance beginning to end.

What about all the Karaoke scenes in between all the violence. I thought that was a rather funny and ironic touch to it. Oh and who can forget the Viagra bit, I was laughing hysterically at that one.

Btw, how did you feel about Jude Law's performance in this one? I thought he did a great job playing the role of a bad guy. One of the few times I've actually seen him do that well. The only other time I can recall was in 'Road to Perdition' which was a film I didn't really much care for btw.

Yeah, the Tesla coil bit. I also enjoyed the bit between Steve Coogan and Alfred Molina.

Benigni: "Ok Steve"
Wright: "Steven"
Benigni: "Steve, I have to go. I have Dentist appt."

''Bill Groundhog-Day, Ghostbustin'-ass Murray!"

Hahaha...Wow! All that love just for a little ol' me? I love it when I complete people.

Also, what I love about people like you is that you completely fail to realise how hypocritical you are! Maybe this is due to some mental deficiency, but I have my suspicions that it is more of an emotional one. You castigate traits you percieve in others without realising that what you are projecting is actually yourself. It cries "Won't somebody...anybody...love me?". So, as a means of therapy, I'll indulge you: I love you, RZA. You're special.

Have you really forgotten how you wandered into the poetry forum just to bait and troll like the complete and utter fool you are? If you have, I can go back and show the the light, oh Malodorous One...

Your suspicions are like your projections; they sadly reflect back to you. I would hold you if only I could feel you, poor baby.

Anyway, with all the assumptions I'm making, it would seem I am close to becoming a donkey. However, the only ass that is here is undoubtedly you. Eee-aw. Woah! Look at me trying to speak your language! Now, that's empathy for you!
