the whole point of OTF is that it's kinda unmoderated in a way, i mean sure if things get out of hand we have storm, WD or Lana come in and break it up but thats more of a side job, do we really need another devoted mod?

The OTF could have a mod... It does still have rules... Rules that are broken more often in the OTF than any other forum. So the OTF should have a mod... Far more than some shit forum that no one posts in...

It is more of a free area but that does not mean that there are not rules... This forum has far more trolling, spamming and flaming than any other. I'm not entirely sure we need a mod for this forum but at the same time I'm not sure we need them for other forums... Maybe the RPing and fiction forums... but the others it's not really necessary, the globals do a fine job... There is almost always at least one on at a time and when something is reported it doesn't take them that long to react.

The OTF had a subforum for a short while called Tired Hiker's Pad.

It was only after that was closed that the OTF turned into what it is now...it used to be a lot less messy before.

But the OTF has never had a specific mod.

Times change...

I really highly doubt the OTF will ever have a mod assigned specifically to it...and if it ever DID happen chances are it would be someone who already is a mod.

But the OTF is meant to be global mod territory.

The globals watch all the forums with no specific mod, as well as their own forums they have.

The only time we'll have a new Moderator is when one leaves KMC and passes down his/her title to whomever they deem capable of doing the required duties.

Length of membership is a contributing factor, yes, but what's more important is what you have to contribute to KMC and it's members. If you are a mature, informative, helpful, level headed, and reliable participant who is dedicated to the Forums, then that, in my opinion, is what makes a great moderator.

We have specific mods for specific forums because of their knowledge of that forum and their abilty to contribute well to said forum.

I dont see any OTF MOD.

The OTF doesn't need a specific moderator. It's too active and trafficked for just one person to handle alone. That's why the Globals all pitch in and do what they deem fit, like closing irrelevant/duplicate threads, banning socks & trolls, etc.

Power hungry? Who's power hungry? The Globals do their job by cleaning up an otherwise messy forum and keep it sane and clean from annoying socks and trolls.
