Tempest
half elf half human

thefallen544
Mortal man I think (assuming we're ruling out Maiar as a choice)

ESB -1138
Half man, half elf, and half fighting kangaroo.

st@rlight
pure elf race... a vanyar more exactly angel. i would love to live in the woods happy to live in paradise, near beautiful and pure imortal citizens beer . of course, there would be a problem: are elves makin beer? confused if yes, they would be for shure the perfect race...

st@rlight
ok, you can continue.... noone will harm you..doh

jainasolo55
hobbit! love big grin

thefallen544
Changing my mind actually after some reading I'm not sure if Mortal Man would be my choice I'm thinking maybe more along the lines of Dwarf at the moment.

fini
HObbits!!!!!!

although I would not want to be like rosie......... 13 children? Yikes!!!!

thefallen544
I think a Hobbit life would be too boring for me (with a few noteable exceptions)

Blaxican
Mortal Man for me. We seem to do all the actual important things, while the Elves just get high in the woods...

chillmeistergen
Hobbit for me it would be genious just drinking, smoking and doin a bit of gardening now n then

Council#13
Man! woot

Count Makashi

Burning thought
perhaps a numenor man, its actually men who do most of the greatest feets in lord of the rings, elves are simply held as great but so often are they felled just as a man prevails and the Numenor are perhaps the greatest men only ofc id be the ones before they are corrupt smile

the corrupt ones get owned

de Peverel

masterkit
I'd want to be a Lothlorien elf. They're are elegant, but have the threatening feeling about them. Like Galadriel.

lilylidou
half elf half human
like the hero for dragonlance.

Violent2Dope
Pretty easy question. A maiar. I'm a true immortal in that I can't really be truely killed only my body dies my spirit will live on in Middle Earth and I would be extremely powerful.

Come on people, give Hobbits a worthy nod.

Oh, and I guess I'm with Hobbits.

chillmeistergen
Good man.

Gotta be a Brandybuck though. I wouldn't settle for anything less.

Violent2Dope
Hobbits are gay midgets.smile Maiar is where it's at.

Haha, yeah. A Took would have an appeal as well though, or maybe a Proudfoot.

exanda kane
No Proudfeet for me, would have to be either a Took or a Brandybuck.

Their is something to be said for lounging around smoking, drinking, eating and gardening and then being regarded by the rest of the Hobbit population as adventurous and reckless.

yogert
hobbit, they have the uncanny ability to not worriy about shit

moonknight11
Dwarf they kick ass!! If not a Dragon hehehe evil face

Leggy_n_Merry
I'm sure I posted in a thread like this ages ago. It might have been where would you want to live in Middle Earth now that I think about it though.

I can never decide which race I'd want to be. Because I love the lifestyle that the hobbits have, as I really want to live in the country when I'm older anyway, but I would also love to be an elf as they have that fantasy and magical element about them. But then I also think I'd love to be a man of Rohan too. Oh I can't decide.

Biccie
Elf for sure.

I always played elven characters in DnD. Love their mystic way of life, almost hidden, but strong and magical. Always captured my imagination.

Arrnathoron
I'd be one of the Eagles living in the Misty Mountains (Could you tell?). But if that doesn't count I'd be a Man, preferably a ranger.

nimbus006
1. Dunedain: This would definately be my first choice. Specifically a North Ranger who was raised and trained by Elves (as Strider did). Its the best of both worlds; your granted a longer life span, but still know what it feels like to be a mortal. I also love the aspect of roaming, tracking, and living in the shadows. I would band together a group of no more than 10 rangers and hunt orcs for about 6 months out of the year and spend the rest of the time living with the Elves in Rivendell and Lothlorien, and occasionally venture to Mirkwood, Gondor, Rohan and the Shire.

2. Elves: My second choice would be the Elves; Ive always admired the ways of the Elves. Pure, Noble, Elegant, but at the same time powerful and strong. (any race really, although i would prefer Vanyar, Noldor, Teleri, or Sindar). I would love to spend time in Mirkwood.

3. Maiar: Who wouldnt want to be a demi-god with unimaginable power. Preferably an Istari, or a servant of Manwe, Varda, Tulkas, Ulmo, or Aule.

4. Dwarf of Khazadum; I've always found this place to be really intriguing despite the Balrog. I also enjoy the idea of mining and forging armor and weapons. Not to mention partying with "Roaring fires, malt beer, and ripe meat from the bone". Although i would probably have to visit the Shire for a Woman.

5. Hobbit: I guess this life would be ok. I dont smoke, but i sure drink and eat often. Being a farmer isnt so bad. Although i would definately be more of a Bilbo type (adventerous and curious of the outside world).

Alfheim
Have a guess....actually I think id prefer to be half elf and human.

ensatsu-ken
Being a mix between an elf and a human would be pretty cool. However, if I had to choose, I suppose that I'd want to be an Elf.

Actually, on second thought, I would want to be an Ainur like Gandalf. That would just be so kick-ass wink .

Yeaaah can elves be ainurs? Gandalf was human wasnt he? Powerful but still human.

Technically the name of magic beings in LOTR is "Ainur." However, I suppose if you carefully look at it, he is basically a Wizard (just a human with magical powers/abilities).

Kelly_Bean
That's definately a hard question because I'd LOVE to be anything from the side. I'd love to be a small hobbit and live in the greenness of the shire, I'd love to have the powers of a wizard like Gandalf, I'd love to be as beautiful and graceful as an elf like Arwen, I'd love to fight like Eowyn of the "man" race. stick out tongue

Captain REX
Gandalf was not human. He was a Maiar.

So put me down as a Maiar; if not, then the average man will do. It's through this race that Middle Earth is saved, after all.

NickLOTR
I want to be an Istari Wizard. A White Istari Wizard. This way i could be inpervious, and also go to the undying lands.

i remember reading that Gandalf was called an "Istari" idk what all these other words mean.. like maiar.... I read he's an Istari wizard sent to earth by the Valor.

Wildboy
One third Dwarf... they are good fighters.
One thirs Elf... 'cause there immortal an' hav all kinds o' special weapons an1 stuff.
One third Man. AN' would want the powers o' Gandalf.

Discos
mmm....definatly not a dwarf, an elf is immortal and how much times would you be bored in a lifetime? haha.

Perhaps a gaurd at Gondor or maybe a hobbit - Hobbits do a lite bit of farm work and drink and party all the time, yay!

SelphieT
I'm not a big fan of LotR, but I guess I'd be an elf.

The Sacred Fire
Alot of people are saying elfs. I don't think they understand that being immortal is bittersweet. It's sweet as you live forever and yet your body can die, your spirit cannot, and so when you body does pass away, you go live on in the Undying Lands. HOWEVER it's also very bitter as you would watch the centuries go by, your family, friends and loved ones die and you will never see them again and you watch the world grow old and the glory and appeal that Middle-Earth once had has far diminished (this is exactly how Galadriel and Elrond felt towards the end of their time on Middle Earth). It would take strong people to endure that.

The Sacred Fire
Captain REX said "Gandalf was not human. He was a Maiar. So put me down as a Maiar; if not, then the average man will do. It's through this race that Middle Earth is saved, after all."

Not entirely. Without the influence of certain Maiar they would not have the guidance and wisdom to endure some of the events that they did.
It is a collaborative effort of all (good-willed) races that they constantly triumphed over evil. That is of course one of the messages of LOTR.

NickLOTR said "I want to be an Istari Wizard. A White Istari Wizard. This way i could be inpervious, and also go to the undying lands.

i remember reading that Gandalf was called an "Istari" idk what all these other words mean.. like maiar.... I read he's an Istari wizard sent to earth by the Valor."

The Istari were not impervious. Not physically anyway! I mean for crying out loud they were old men, they aren't exactly bodybuilders, as that wasn't fitting for their purpose. They could die quite easily under the cloak of an old man (Gandalf and Saruman prove this, Gandalf's death was amazing as he endured so much before dying). Their spirit is the immortal part of them. They were only as physically strong as your grandparents my friends!

Gandalf, like other immortal beings, had many classes and orders. He didn't just belong to one only. He was a Maiar, an Ainur and an Istari.

The Sacred Fire
I personally would be okay with anything. Just to be in Middle Earth would be an experience in itself.

Oh and if you guys were one of the Istari you wouldn't use all these "cool superpowers and spells, etc". Your power as one of them would be limited because of your cloak as an old man (if you can understand that, they were not invincible remember, they were old men), and your obligation as being sent on a mission (secrectly from a higher power (the Valar and Eru) as they were directed to keep their real identity as immortal spirits a secret to the small people of Middle Earth. Only other Maiar and the highest elves (Galadriel and Elrond namely) knew who they really were) to direct the free peoples of Middle Earth to resist Sauron and his servants. You wouldn't be blasting fireballs at orcs and battling balrogs as alot of you think. Although that would be pretty sweet huh :P

Akhnar
I would pick to be a god even if there isnt any in LOTR or maybe like Sauron hes like half a god and the ring is another half so that would make him a GOD so I would pick to be a GOD = Sauron. All the powers in the world to change everything as I want.

Akhnar
Reply to secret Fire:

U can be a magician and a fighter its called Battlemage theres lots of kind of them but that really means that ur a mage that has wisdom and will fight in wars to defend with hi great power and wisdom.

The Secret Fire
Theres NO such thing as a battlemage in Tolkiens/Jacksons ME, Akhnar.

I think you're getting confused with Dungeons and Dragons or something..

Deja~vu
Elf, elf, elf........just a cute little elf.

hamboy

Sauran was a maiar as well only difference is like the balrogs at the beginning he sided with morgoth the original dark lord who in fact was a valar.

Gandalf and co where restricted in the form they took hence the guises of old and wise men the istari order. They where strictly prohibited revealing there true nature or in fact use there full abilities to put it simply gandalf was Olorin who could have fought sauron power on power but the war of wrath when the valor fought morgoth caused great destruction to middle earth making it the place it is in the LOTR trilogy.

Just the typical good vs bad scenario where the bad guys dont give a rats ass about consequences.

Serious Impact
First Choice: Maia~Immortal souls, very powerful, but restricted, has a purpose and secretive...I like this.

Second Choice: Elven~Also immortal, with all the time in the world to learn to be powerful in magic, or whatever floats your boat.

Third Choice: Ent~Nearly immortal and very cool.

You can see the theme of immortality here, so pretty much any race that's immortal, I'd be cool with....Dragon perhaps (although they are all but dead, so that would kind of suck). People say that they'd get bored, but I think I'd find a way to entertain myself, especially in a world with other immortals.

Incanus
Either Maiar, or Numenorean of the line of Elros before Sauron was captured. Maiar are just awesome because they are older than the world itself, and the Numenoreans just pwn everything.

Hewhoknowsall
Is Eru a race?

Incanus
uhhhh no. i dont think he is =-p lol tho

Lord Lucien
As I feel that death sucks, and having resistance to aging, cold, apparently some toxins, looking young and hot most of your life, being able to walk on surfaces others can't (snowbanks), having enhanced perceptions, and pointy ears, all DON'T suck...

I'd have to pick and Orc.

Vjer
A Numenorian sailor like Aldarion but I would stay away from Erendis...
you get a long lifespan and you get to travel the world (except going toward Aman or Tol Eressea...

xJLxKing
Elves.
-Can see both realms
-Immortal
-Can go see the Valar
-Good Food

Prince Nauj

Morgromir

Charles19

KingD19
I wanna be a Tom Bombadil, or a Sauron. smile

I'd be Black, as I don't recall seeing a negro in the films, so I'd either be unique or very rare. That's gotta count for something.

sixella 34
Elf

Allahfameel
I'd want to be Lord of the Eagles. I believe it was Gwaihir during LOTR. Manwe would have my back and no one, and I mean no one ever wants to mess with me.

dylan2102wright
Hobbit

bogert
I will go with Mortal man. smile

elrond72
I am an elf stick out tongue

eezy45
Hell, this is old. I would pick Hobbit, though. They seem to enjoy their existence. Or yes, the Maiar are really interesting. happy

Exabyte
Growing older is strange: I also feel like I have grown from Elf to Mortal to Hobbit.

LegolasLover536
