Simply because the Squad are a pretty accurate portrayal of the comic 'Justice League' whereas the Cartoon Justice League are depowered compared to their comic book counterparts.

I would say JLord Supes is on the edge of being evil. He was readily willing to kill Flash and it seemed like an easy decision for him. The other Lord members aren't bad though, they were just trying to help in their own twisted way.
