All versions of Maelstron beat Superman.
He can control ALL forms of kenetic energy produced by Supes, and the world around him.
He can remove it, or use it.

That is a serious power. I don't know a lot about Maelstrom or what he's done, but Superman has overcome complete kinetic suspension before in just a couple moments when he didn't even realize the attack was coming. He just seemed to will his way out. lol.
