can the creature with 1,000 powers take out the evolving boy?

Darwin honestly is the type of character that could, possibly, defeat anyone on these boards. Telepath? He evolves beyond simple human thought. Incredibly strong? Evolves durability/past physical damage. Elemental powers? Evolves heat resistance.

Darwin honestly seems to be the answer to any thread. "Who can beat XXX?" Darwin!

So, assuming Darwin's powers are fully functioning to the best of their abilities, it's really unfair to pit him against ANYONE in these forums. .

Darwin's powers have come into action BEFORE they were actually needed, before. He has evolved BEFORE he actually came into contact with the stimulus. There is no reason that they wouldn't again. That is, so long as his powers are functioning in tip top shape, as mentioned.

He' probably get owned by a decent mage.

Only if he knows what he's "evolving" to protect against..... Seth has so many weird freakin powers that Darwin wouldn't have a clue where to begin

Darwin is quite the plot device. He could always evolve mystical defenses, or even a magical immunity.

He doesn't have to MAKE himself evolve. His body does it automatically.

I know that... but for him to start adapting to something new before it comes into contact with him (as you suggested he could) it would require prior knowledge

But Darwin has evolved spontaneously - it's adaptation in its most powerful form - the moment he needs something he has it. Think of when everything went to hell in Krakoa - he evolved spontaneously to survive all the havoc, and to help aid Vulcan survive as well.

He doesn't have to know the nature of the attack to evolve....during Krakoas attack(God only knows what that was) he evolved himself and Sway and Petra into pure energy and binded with Vulcan in order to save himself and his friend.

Darwin is the ultimate plot device, moreso than ANYONE you choose to argue, because the Writers can always just say "He evolved it."

How do one evolve in defence aginst rainbow power blasts, the power to make you feel what a rabbit feels like when it's run over by a truck or how Bing Crosby felt when he had his fatal heart attack playing golf, or layrix freezing vision, or telepathtic reflection (that when he makes you see what he sees, and only that one image over and over), or any one of a thousand active powers.

Rainbow powered blasts...energy of some sort....become immune to that energy frequency.

Rabbit feel power - Isn't this some sort of Projective Empathy...transferred via waves? Become immune to the energy frequency.

Telepathic reflection - Again waves become immune to the energy frequency.

Layrix Freezing vision? - Not sure what that is...you'll have to explain...

Anything energy based could just be metabolized...

Darwin is the ultimate plot device. I wouldn't hesitate to say nobody below Skyfather would have the power to take him out.
